I understand that a lot of people complain about the 360 MineCraft map is too small.
Without having a lot of the current version PC bioms, villages, etc., do I really need a map of all the same stuff?
IMO, I think it is a good size (for now). I don't need to keep exploring the same looking places over and over. Mind you I usually only play solo or with one friend.
What do you all think. Is the map adequate size with what they have to offer or is it too small? Especially for the people who play with 2+ people.
For the game to be updated so that it's in line with the PC version, the map size will have to increase, but for what's currently offered, as your question asks, I think it's pretty good. A friend and I share a world, and it's just big enough to be a challege to visit each other, but small enough that we can get together to help each other out whenever we want.
Personally, I don't like making big builds for the sake of building something big. I like the idea of having multiple small to medium builds connected through roadways, waterways, and railways. This is why I want huge maps. Building big is time consuming at best, but building far is a challenge.
There are a few other threads refering to this. As far as I have read, most of the people aren't satisfied with the current map size. And if you think about it, it makes sense. For the first few weeks or months it's fine, but after a while, the lack of resources will become an issue. Hopefully 4J will do something about it.
Since they need to stay with the PC version, they need to add Villages. I think one village will take up a big part in the map. They need to make it bigger to make a immense and fun adventure with all players. As might as well increase the amount of players in a MP game, which I currently think is either 4 or 8...
Not having a resource I can understand. missing snow or pumpkins or some little nitpick.
But too run out?!?! Nope, just ain't gonna happen.
I'm deliberately not exploring my map in hope a village or mine will generate in unexplored chunks like clay did. Haven't gone into the nether either.
Staying in an approximate 200 block radius loosely (just not traveling north, south is fair game) I am soaked in resources. Loads of diamonds, iron, red, lapis, everything. Been playing the same map since middle of June and I can't see using up everything in this small area let alone the rest of the map.
I could maybe see a shortage of diamond if you utterly waste it, in a couple of months, in one spot. Besides, most people will drop these maps for the next update. And if they do increase map size it'll be another reason to drop existing maps.

I agree. I don't understand how people are getting low on resources. I go on a quick mine for some diamond and end up coming back with tons of everything else as well. If you think about it. Imagine exploring every underground block in the entire game. I have yet to even go explore stuff underwater, let alone 95% of the stuff that isn't underwater.

If I'm not mistaken 1.8.2 is a different map generator, so in order to get villages and mineshafts you will need to start a new map anyways.
I think the maps should be at least 3 times bigger than what they are currently, I own the PC version and exploring is the only thing that keeps the game fresh for me.
I'm inclined to agree with OP. Size is fine. Over 120 Mil blocks, with probably 50 Million+ mineable blocks. That makes for and insanely large amount of coal and iron. I've been playing the same level for two months, and have yet to complete the cave system I found, seems to run through half the map.
Sure it would be cool if it was infinite, but then again it would be cool if it was 3D or holographic too. You could list lots of things that would be "cool", but what they made is certainly good enough and worth the money I plunked down for it.
Kids enjoy it, friends enjoy it, and neighbors enjoy it.
I find the lack of supplies not much of a bother since I usually create my own mines and I make good use of supplies and ores around the map, and when villages and strongholds pop out in the future updates it's going to be easier to find them and I am personally glad of that. In the PC version, it's pretty hard to find an actual stronghold if you travel out and dig deep underground which I guess adds to some challenge to finding one and making it to the end, but with the limited map it'll be pretty easy to find one and explore it to find the End Portal when they eventually pop up in a future update.
However, I do understand what people are talking about when about the worlds being too small but I don't see it as a problem. But with Minecraft XBOX taking up a lot of memory for the XBOX360 and it's lack of memory which makes it really hard to expand the worlds and get them to a good size. But if we aren't able to get near-infinite worlds, don't blame 4J, blame the XBOX because of it's 2005 era technology.
You are assuming you would get the end portal, at the moment the maps on the xbox are a section of the equivalent map on the PC in most cases... so what if the section that makes up the xbox map doesnt have the portal or what not? and on the more likely assumption that they are random, all the random stuff would take up so much room it would be unlikely to get it all in such a small map.
4J Studios did say in an interview that eventually they would increase the map size. Infinite is probably out of the picture but they did say it would be big enough that you wouldn't notice. If they start adding some of the PC features (i.e. NPC villages, mine shafts, strongholds, etc) the map would need to be somewhat larger. I have multiple maps that my friends and I play on so this isn't a big factor but in my opinion, a larger map will soon be needed due to additions of the updates. The lack of resources argument isn't a factor as of yet.
As some of you guys know I do advocate bigger map sizes and 4J did say they'd look into it and let's hope they do. I know it can't be infinite size but even if they doubled or tripled map size I'd be happy(hopefully it can be bigger than that) If they(4J)do or don't work on bigger maps i will still support them and continue to play but having bigger maps would make exploring more interesting and thats what I love to do on Minecraft maps(not a good builder lol My houses always look lopsided and uneven)
I would venture to guess that double the current size is about as big as XBOX will get, and I think that will be plenty big enough if they are capable of doing it.
