I've never met someone who fantasized about being the opposite sex unless they were transgender. The reason why guys play as females is so they can look at hot pixelated booty while playing. Maybe I'm one of the rare girl gamers that play games based on their appeal and not who I'm controlling. If 4j decides to add more female skins in the next pack then okay. If not then okay. Meanwhile I'll be enjoying building my world.
Agreed. However I can't agree one the comment on men wanting to look at hot pixalates booty. You ARE correct however that can't be considered to be the only reason.
If all they had was girl skins, It wouldn't bother me. Not because a female Steve is attractive, but because it's a look of a character in a game where the character doesn't matter.
In a D&D game, sexes matter. But in a game where it's about building, just sounds like something to complain about.
It's not bitching whining. It's a customer requesting a product which since I last checked is perfectly fine when it comes to DLC or even for added features to the game itself. If a customer is asking for female skins and is willing to pay for them, I'd say that's a win for 4J.
That's because more guys fantasize being female than girls fantasize being male.
More guys fantasize about being girls than vice versa? Where did you get this info from? Please present some evidence of this hilarious claim.

If anyone wants to play Bauldur's Gate (1, 2, or enhanced) or Icewind Dale PLEASE PM me. I'd like to play.
A lot of the responses here are basically versions of "you shouldn't care about that", which is basically telling someone else how they ought to feel (which, I hope I don't even have to argue, is stupid and patronizing).
Just to sort of clarify this, telling people how they "ought to feel" is a story telling mechanic. The dynamics of Isaac in Dead Space would be expected to be slightly changed for a female. Expectations of players are too high to just accept the same behaviors out of androgynous characters when they imply a gender.
We've heard all sorts of excuses - pixel pushers at Mojang can't make a decent girl, you can customize your skin on the PC version so no one cares, first-person mode invalidates you seeing the character, etc, etc, etc. But the storytelling aspect is missing. Oh, wait, I forgot, Minecraft has absolutely no story.
Besides, in this version, you're still going to grunt like a dude..... :\

Dude, don't you know the meaning of MMORPG?
On a side note, that guy is nuts. Both real genders tend to pick characters of the female gender because females are visually more appealing to either gender. There's a study somewhere that I'm too lazy to go find.....
It has nothing to do with fantasizing about gender reversal or whatever.

Yeah, I meant on literal gender reversal. I don't believe that claim. Not do I believe many men play an MMO thinking, "Sweet, now I can finally act and look like the girl I always fantaSized being"...

Ya, I get what you meant, but I have no idea what the other guy was saying that you quoted.
You sort of all sorts of jacked up your post - do you know you double posted and added a quote later?
Anyway, the MMORPG comment was the "alternate" meaning of the abbreviation - "Many Men Online Role Playing Girls".
I don't really understand why people are so angry about female skins. There is not many female skins, but does it really matter? It is a building game not a dress up game. No offence.
What is the difference between building and dress-up? I can make a tennis court out of wool for Tennis Steve and it's part of the world that "makes sense."
Minecraft is a completely customizable game and people have those expectations for the 360. On PC for years now, people have been making villages and complete stories/worlds/universes. The worlds they make seem to have a tiny bit of an expanded scope that includes female things, more than 1 type of zombie, human NPCs that don't look like Bert, etc. Dress up is half the fun of those servers.

That pixelated booty comment was a joke. Its more along the lines of visually pleasing. I know my fiance picks women avatars because of how they look. Not because he wants to be a girl
Wow and this is actually an issue for some girls? Why not just play the game as was originally intended (aka default steve).
After 2 decades of playing male centric games, the fact that "queen" &"mrs. Splosion " are some of the only female skins doesn't surprize me at all. I'm sure the female to male ratio is higher than most would think, but I know a lot of female players remain gender neutral to prevent harassing. Esp on xbox live.
I like to be a male character or monster, I'm a girl all day.
Did anyone keep track of how poorly Bayonetta did here in the states. Beautiful game, female protagonist. Wonder if there was a connectin. I think it did better in the uk, but I don't have the data infront of me.
An all gilr skin would be cool, but don't hold your breath.

And although it's a joke there is SOME truth in it. I mean, most games don't possess "ugly" female characters; usually only males. Because as someone's stated, games are made with primarily males in mind. Teenage guys at that, of course sexy video characters would affect the game atleast in a visual sense.
Although I understand it's just MY opinion, sexes in games aren't a big deal. For instance I usually try female characters first on any fighting game. They tend to be faster than male characters. I don't think I've ever played a game and wished for the opposite sex.

I never heard the alternate meaning, that's pretty funny though.
I would like to apologize for my inappropriate responses on specifically this thread. Although I believe I have valid points, I don't believe I'm expressing myself in a very appropriate manner. So if anyone cares, my bad. I was being the asshole.

Bayonetta (spelling? lol) was a great game. I thought it did just fine in the states... Not that I really know or anything.

Well I'm a boy, but I always play split-screen with my sister and she DEMANDS a female skin. Maybe they could make like a Default Male Skin Set, and a Default Female Skin Pack? Or one skin set with different catagorys like Male, Female, and Extras like Herobrine and Creeper Person? IDK, that's probably just me. =P
Sorry i'm working with an iPhone so it's hard to manage quotes and stuff at times. (for me at least)

Yeah, I had that Bayonetta fact backwards in my mind...I've been mad at that incorrect fact for a while...lol
Note to self; don't read data late at night and expect to remember it correctly.
It was odd they left them to the side..... I mean maybe they should do skin packs like this
GAME SKINS-Game Characters
FEMALE SKINS-Female Skins
MALE SKINS- Male skins
Random- Random skins
just organize so then people have more choices and don't have to pay for a pack for only 1-3 skins...
Beautiful game, female protagonist. Wonder if there was a connectin. I think it did better in the uk, but I don't have the data infront of me.
Females in videogames are a long bashed, shallow subject where a bunch of immature adults can't get over "boobies" or the fact that real people aren't all androgynous clones that have thrown away all gender roles. At least, it feels that way in the U.S.
In some of the reviews, Bayonetta got bashed for the same reasons that X-blades and now Lollipop Chainsaw are - they claim that the female protagonists are shallow sex symbols. If you've played Lollipop Chainsaw, pay special attention to Nick.... On a shallow level, the game is "T&A" but the story is much better. For all the claims of "shallow game designers making T&A!" there are a bunch of uneducated white knights making shallow cries against women in videogames that wear makeup or have a cup size bigger than A.....
Bayonetta was great and certainly not something that's going to cause the downfall of society because you can see her ankles....
Nurse? Really? And Hammer was the most disliked protagonist of any video game ever. She was bulky, arrogant, and stupid.
The only female skins are stereotypical female skins like Nurse, Swimmer, Queen, etc. I mean, they might as well have added Stripper and Prostitute skins, and made them both female.
Where are the Normal Girl 1 and Normal Girl 2 skins? Where are the GOOD female characters like Joanna Dark and Laura Croft?
This issue has turned into some deep meaning of life and the beginnings of the universe stuff. All over some skins for a character in a video game.
Well, that's because the developer's selection of skins reflects how we feel, as a society, about ourselves, and exposes some of the gender-related issues hiding in the shadows. Just, you know, through the tint of video games.

when you play multiplayer, other people see your skin...
it's nice to have a skin you like or that somewhat "fits" you on your character.
