What I'm saying is its trivial to ***** and whine over a lack of specific skins. It's like if I was to scream "Oh god this pack is racist because there is no australian skins"

Minecraft makes you lose weight if you post in forums and literally shake with anger when someone posts something stupid.
This thread is the definition of "first world problems". Hilarious.

This seems like a stupid issue to press. Just because you or your girlfriend don't like the skins presented, it seems like you're attempting to ignore them altogether. And it seems the point isn't to just inform your opinion but to demand skins that you like without any real informative examples. (I could be wrong)
Looks just a tad hard to make a good female skin that all girls will like, when you're stuck with the body frame that is Steve.
6 - 7 female skins is very much an effort to include female gamers, as I'm sure there are plenty more male players than female.

If anyone wants to play Bauldur's Gate (1, 2, or enhanced) or Icewind Dale PLEASE PM me. I'd like to play.

Certainly but without the b*tching and whines the only changes would be guesses and guessing what to make for the next content is spotty compared to getting feedback from the communities that play the game.

Vincent: You come here and enjoy spilling their blood…and listening to them cry out! Heather: Are you talking about the monsters? Vincent:Monsters?…They look like monsters to you!?!? Heather: *gasp* Oh no. Vincent: Don’t worry…it’s just a joke.
Not really an ego problem, but a problem with sexism. I'm sure some would be offended if there weren't any african American skins, but that's another topic.
No, definitely an ego problem. Sexism has a stronger meaning than what you're giving it credit for. This is a video game in which the main character has been deemed "Steve", just as any other person in any film or game would be named and given an identity. Steve is a male.
Lara Croft, as the name has popped up in the forums lately, is a female. That is not sexism, that is a character being given an identity.
You wanting to change the sex of Steve sounds like a personal problem, not that of the developers honestly.
Oh and are you serious about the "African-American" skins? First off, have you seen Athletic Steve? That's the name, not "African American Steve". That looks pretty racy to me, as he's wearing a white tanktop, jeans, and a fairly large gold chain. If I were anyone really, that wouldn't be my envision of what I'd want the first black Steve's skin to be, if I were worried about being offended by Minecraft. Lol
If anything having the skin is more racist than not having it. Then again, no one is discussing that because it's not a real issue to anyone. It's a Minecraft skin... *cough cough*

There's a difference between feedback and complaining over a lack of something that isn't needed to enjoy the game.
And that puma guy above me has the right idea.

Lets try role reversal say mojang when they were making the very first version of minecraft and they had decided to keep the girl character that had the frog hat on, and then lets skip afew years minecraft on the xbox comes out, people want new skins and the first skin pack was mostly female characters and the few male skins looked terrible would people complain and demand new ones? certainly expanding the fan base to get females to play the game more would be a smart move business wise.

Lol noo! I think it'd be cool if they have an all female pack. Would be nice for girls. I, as a man, would not care if they released a skin pack that is completely or predominately female. What does it matter?

You do realize im trying to explain to him why people want more female skins right?
And it matters because you can bet if the majority of minecraft players were female you can bet someone would make some commotion about wanting them to expand to making more male player skins. I honestly dont see why people think its wrong for a person wanting more of something.
Edit: [has nothing to do with my words above this] but the first skin pack is out for anyone wondering.

Yes, and as he's stated there is a difference between feedback and complaining.
And as a part of the community, I will speak for a small part of the community. Something like this doesn't need to get anyone upset, as it is minute.
Even though I like the idea, it was to further my point. I don't think I expanded well enough though. I would feel like it'd be inappropriate for people to get on here and complain with such disdain about bad looking male skins, as some people are about the female skins.
To say "oh it sux" is one thing but to almost insinuate like there's a crime being commited is something else.
Just my opinion of course.
Once again, there's a difference between feedback and complaining.

I'm a guy now?
And oh my god Brandon is it so difficult to understand that developers shouldn't have to pander to a specific and/or vocal group just because they are unsatisfied with the choices?

Since you seem to be at least knowledgeable about this matter yes saying "it sux" isn't feedback at least not very good feedback haven't really seen it stated like that in this thread though [i might have to look harder to] but i do agree while its not good to be completely upset over it, it would be nice for everyone to get something that would make the game more enjoyable for them even if it is "unneeded skins" as i've seen people call it here and there thank you for your opinion i somewhat agree.

If your not a guy then great but its rather hard to tell who someone is by reading a username & Im not saying their not allowed to make the game the way they like it, im just saying if the community wants something other then the vanilla content they should be allowed to state it personal freedom of choice isn't necessary but it helps sell more.

IF the majority of players were female and IF there were 90% Female Skins.... i can guarantee you that 100% of the men would have no issue playing as a female. Case in point. 90% of female characters on any given MMORPG....is played by a dude.. Just sayin.

Lool, you gotta point.
I loved Diablo 2 and played exclusively the Sorceress. Hadn't cared if they made a male version...
Hope that doesn't mean something else though, lol. I yoke, I yoke.

It's not bitching whining. It's a customer requesting a product which since I last checked is perfectly fine when it comes to DLC or even for added features to the game itself. If a customer is asking for female skins and is willing to pay for them, I'd say that's a win for 4J.

That's because more guys fantasize being female than girls fantasize being male.

I've never met someone who fantasized about being the opposite sex unless they were transgender. The reason why guys play as females is so they can look at hot pixelated booty while playing. Maybe I'm one of the rare girl gamers that play games based on their appeal and not who I'm controlling. If 4j decides to add more female skins in the next pack then okay. If not then okay. Meanwhile I'll be enjoying building my world.
Yes, wife and daughter were looking forward to it, now they are pretty disappointed. Daughter will probably be OK with Queen, but guess we were expecting something more like a generic Stephanie skin.
The one on the promo image would have been perfect. Think it's Notch's wife's skin.
I'm going to make a couple of what I'm sure will be totally non-controversial statements (yeah, right):
1. It is a reasonable desire for a female player to want to play as a female character.
Just because you or your girlfriend or your cousin the halo fan might not care, doesn't mean that someone else's desire is invalid.
Sure, not all games allow you to choose characters at all, but in games that do, people have all sorts of different reasons for which character they choose, including picking one that they think best represents them. A lot of the responses here are basically versions of "you shouldn't care about that", which is basically telling someone else how they ought to feel (which, I hope I don't even have to argue, is stupid and patronizing).
2. This desire isn't addressed by any of the 8 default minecraft skins.
I can't imagine any argument on this point, unless you want to argue about Scottish Steve's kilt or something.
3. The new skin pack gives a few options, but for many players doesn't significantly fix this problem.
We can discuss which of the new skins you like and which you don't, but if someone still doesn't see a skin that they feel best represents themselves, then that's certainly their perogative to feel that way.
4. It is ok for players to share their disappointment about this (which is all the original post said).
We have posts here about all the intricate details of mushroom farming and the latest redstone gadget, why wouldn't this forum be an appropriate place to discuss this? Nobody is rage quitting the game or gathering torches and pitchforks (well, torches maybe).
I've seen it before, so I'm unfortunately no longer surprised at the amount of pushback to these simple ideas.
Comments in this thread like "calm down and stop bitching" are examples of gaslighting, a form of emotional manipulation that attempts to cause someone (normally a woman) to doubt their own reaction.
Lots of other comments (about the gender split in gaming, for example) might be somewhat related to the original topic about female skins, but are still primarily used as a way of saying "this isn't important". I don't think I'm going way out on a limb to say that the number of female Minecraft players is probably higher than the number of minecraft players that are also Splosion-man fans (who got 5 skins in the pack).
Like some other posters, I wish they had included a simple "Stefanie" skin (like Steve, but female) in the default set. The promo pic someone posted on the prior page is a great simple example of what I'm talking about. I hope along with licensed characters they include a wider variety of generic (non game related) skins of both sexes in future skin packs. Simple variations like different colored shirts or different hair colors might attract a surprising amount of players. Personally, I'm waiting for the Steve with glasses and a goatee
