If there is one resource I really want to auto harvest it's trees. Countless videos, reading the wiki and some experiments have all lead to dead ends.
Every guide has been about moving tree blocks to make it more convenient. But nothing seems to break them into drops.
That's a lot of work and building just to shift tree blocks around.
So I ask, has anyone ever seen tree blocks converted into drops without manually breaking them. Long shot, but I thought I'd ask before giving up.

I don't think you'll have much luck with that. Something needs to break the blocks. The only thing I could see possibly working would be some sort of contraption with TNT, but even then you'll probably blow up most of the wood, and a good chunk of ground at the same time.

Never though of tnt. Yeah, not a good idea, i can see a loss of pistons... 50% of the tree I could deal with. Worth an experiment or two.
I figured as much but I had to ask. Worth a shot. I'll foolishly try a tnt based harvester when I can scrap up more tnt.
