so i was wondering if elevators work? I made one and it won't push me up, i just get pushed inside to piston that comes out...wtf!
Killing me, first my lighthouse lag's like crazy and now elevators won't work for me...Anyone get one to work??

They don't work for me, either. Even in areas where I only have one block moving up and down, if I stand on top of that block, I either get thrown to the side, or I go down inside the block.
Elevators work, but they work like they do in PC SMP - not very well.
You can usually fiddle with repeaters until you find the "sweet spot" for your SMP server and clients. Most Elevator videos should tell you this right at the beginning.
Edit: Oh, I forgot, if you're using the designs that sort of corkscrew around, those generally work fine and the 5 block version I've made on Xbox worked.

Make sure you're standing on the "seam" between the two pistons (I'm assuming you're doing the two piston elevator if you're going sideways...?). Adjust the repeaters until it stops doing that..... or just hold jump until the elevator finishes. Jumping always works, it's just really dumb and annoying....

cool I'll try the corkscrew one. Already tried messing with the timing for a least a hour,lol...No luck
Were you trying the side-by-side piston one like in this video?
Because those are awesome, but even on PC in SMP they often have weird clipping issues and require you to eff with them all the time. :\
Like I mentioned to Charity Diary, you can always just hold jump and it will generally work 99% of the time.... but if you wanted to do that, you wouldn't build a @#$! elevator, now would you?

Ok this is a good video tutorial of a elevator that worked from me full credits to the guy who made it:

I have been messing with a design similar and it is staying very consistent. When I get the full thing working I will get a tutorial up.
and it doesn't work, I just fall thru the pistons. In about 40 tries I made it to the top (12 blocks) twice. Every other time it failed miserably. I tried 2 ticks delay for the power up to next level like the video says. Then I tried 3 ticks for them all, and finally 4 ticks. None of them made any difference.
The pistons are going way too fast compared to the tutorial videos I think. In order to get 5 or more ticks of delay to slow the elevator down, I'll have to find a way to fit another repeater into each level and a quick inspection told me it's gonna be difficult and make the thing a lot more complicated. I might never try it because I don't know if that will solve anything.
Very frustrated, but yes I am going to have to change my plans and go with a spiral stair elevator like ethoslabs.
Elevators were a huge part of my plans and the spiral elevator is ugly because it requires it to be enclosed. I liked the great view out of the glass elevator. Might have to try the zipper elevator too but I don't think that one looks or acts realistic at all. sigh

What's the point of that "elevator"? It's not even an elevator! It's just a staircase, and the pistons push you along the stairs. I mean, you could just walk up the stairs...

Seems pointless to me.
Have you ever walked up a 64-block-tall spiral staircase? LOL I have... I built one in the first world I played to get down to my mine at bedrock. It made me dizzy going around and around and around and around... and since your constantly changing direction you have to use both sticks, one to go forward/down and the other to turn. It's a hassle, believe me. I'm not kidding when I say it made me dizzy spinning around like that.
But yeah I don't like that elevator either despite that. I need another solution now.
I just made one today, works fine for me. I did have some problems along the way. I have a capture card, so I could record the one I made if anyone wanted. About to go off now, but i'll make the vid tomorrow if anyone wants to see.
Edit: Not the staircase one, but the nice one linked above, with a few adjustments.

I'd like to see it for sure. All you really have to do is say what you adjusted to make it work.
