OK, so there was a slime farming tutorial (slime farm 101) up not too long ago on these forums. So i decided to follow it and make a slime farm myself.
You put in your map seed #, in my case my seed is #217
So i followed all the directions, i went to bedrock, between layers 1-16 i dug out 16x16 square, 3 block high room.
Then i lit the **** out of the room with torches (only on the walls and a few blocks hanging from the ceiling lit with torches, no torches on the ground)
After all that was done, i changed it from peaceful mode to easy, then i bounced back to my crib which is prob like 100+ blocks away, and waited for approximately 15 min.
When i came back to check out my slime concentration camp, it was empty : (
i repeated this process a few times but no success)
Any ideas as to why im not getting any slimes? I dug out the exact 16x16 chunk that was specified in the link given. So maybe that slime spawn link just doesn't work.
I was really far from the slime camp when i waited for some time. Maybe i wasn't waiting long enough? or do i need to play on a harder difficulty than easy? I don't know if this makes a difference but im playing on the same world when the game came out, so its an updated world, and i've never seen a slime before.
To increase slime spawn chances (as refered to in my thread) light up surrounding caves. every other mob that spawns is a potential loss for a slime to spawn.
Dont got more than 128 blocks (radius from player) away from your slime area or mobs will instantly despawn.
Wait for longer periods of time, slimes are a rare mob to spawn.
Gotta be within a certain number of blocks for them to spawn just like any other mob. Only other tip is select a slime chunk that has more than 1 chunk near it and dig a larger one thru all chunks with slimes.
My Slime farm is dun out 3 high with 6 16x16 chunks... 5 of which spawn slimes to increase the chance

alright then, so cant be within 24 blocks of slime farm yea? but no further than 128 blocks of slime farm.
OK... so my crib in which i was chillin at was a just a bit over the 128 block distance limit, at about 240+ blocks away.... ill build a AFK shack within the limits and see if this works out, thanks for the help, ill post back in a bit!

I chose a chunk with 3 slime spawns next to each other, However i only dug out one cave to see if any slimes come.
thanks for the help though : ) much appreciated!
Basically it gave out this link : http://extension.ws/...aft/slimes.html

Retired StaffMore than likely slimes had already spawned while you were closer, slimes dont despawn. And 3 high is more than enough
