So I have a strip mine down all the way at the level right above bed rock and I found 5 slimes all in the same area in it. So I dug out all the walls and made a huge room in that area that is 3 tall and I took out almost all of the light. I couldn't get anymore slimes to spawn! (All though I did get some creepers >_<) I'm trying to get a slime farm so I have slime balls for sticky pistons. My questions are:
1. Why aren't any more slimes spawning? What should I do?
2. I killed all 5 slimes with my hands but only 1 gave me slime balls. Why?

Also, those slimes may not have spawned there but instead spawned else where and then hopped to that spot. Slime do not have a guaranteed mob drop. You only have a chance of getting slimeballs, it's not 100% guaranteed.
slimes can spawn in any light if i'm not mistaken so light that ***** up! also, light up surrounding caves. it will increase the chances of slimes spawning. make sure it's a big open room. i try to put little glowstone on the floor and no torches to increase the chances. (i was told they can't spawn on glowstone or glass)
