I've been wondering for awhile, that since the world is limited, what about certain resources that are not unlimited? glowstone for example. The nether is not very big, and while there is a ton of glowstone, it won't last forever.
I've just been worried that one day my world will run out of caves to explore and important resources to get. I suppose by then I will be bored with that world, but you never know. There's some items such as cacti and dark wood and snow that can possibly not spawn at all.
I'm aware the xbox worlds will always be limited. So will they ever possibly be able to make a solution to get more limited resources into the world so they don't run out altogether, or is increasing map size for more resources really the only possibly?
As of now, there's no fix for that problem. Other than duplicating. That doesn't always solve everything though. My first world did not have a single cactus in it. I searched every inch of that map, not a single cactus. Gotta have an original to make a duplication. Not that I woulda duped cactus anyway, **** grows so fast it doesn't take more than 10 minutes to fill a couple stacks with cactus once its growing...
Yeah, my world lacks any dark wood or snow. But no cacti, that really stinks. No green related wool, I guess.
I've been tempted to dupe things I consider important that are limited such as glowstone, but I'm personally not into duping. I don't think there's anything wrong with it at all, but I'd prefer not to do it.
Fortunately the day I run out of glowstone is faaar away.

Yeah man, I went nuts duping my first world. I have some cool buildings, but a lot of things that look like **** too. That is also the world where all my pixel art is, but if you ever saw it, you'd notice NO GREEN anywhere because there are no cacti. My new world still has some duped blocks. Mainly brick and mossy cob, but that's just because there are so little of both of those .
It sucks that we have limited resources on xbox, but once the 1.8 update hits, I see most of these problem diminishing.

dude, once the 1.8 update hits its gonna be way worse.. if now were having issue with resources and biomes not appearing,, how in the world are the new additional biomes gonna fit after the 1.8 update?

Well, I'm not so much talking about size issues, I don't know what the fix for that will be. I was talking more about NPC traders, and enchantments. Both of those will allow you to make the most of what resources do have in your world.
Wait, ****... neither of those are in 1.8 are they?
I think the 1.8 release should help a lot, but I have a feeling that if they intend to increase world size, it will be in the 1.8 update, mostly because 1.8 could beg another problem, and that is cramming strongholds, ravines, mineshafts and other goodies into the world.
For example, villages are somewhat rare. The very distant day trading arrives on the xbox, what if the world has no villages? Then there's no point in trading.
( Although, if they follow 1.3 closely, they will also include the cheat commands and you could just spawn villagers in with eggs.)
EDIT:
@echocrack:
Trading won't be in 1.8, and i'm not sure about enchanting. That would be handy if trading was brought forward to 1.8 since they will be doing villages anyway, but it's very unlikely. But yes, you would be able to buy things like glowstone and never run out, although you'll have to cough up the dough to buy it.
I agree, I have dark wood in my world but LITERALLY there is one tree in a tundra in the top right corner of my map. I cut it down to collect saplings but it didn't drop a single one. I have no cacti(even though I have no use for it, I use blue or red wool) although I'd like my world to have at least one of something. It seems like I have explored my entire world's cave systems(45 diamond, (3) 64 stacks of gold, (11) stacks of iron, (4) stacks of lapis, (9) stacks of redstone, a really flat, boring nether, 4 monster spawners(all zombie) and a golden apple.
I want to start a new world but since I know my new world will never be as good as this one I just can't do it. It seems that XBLA Minecraft is getting boring but I do have faith that they will extend the world size.
The original claim was that the Xbox version would eventually be able to be played cross platform with the PC version. That alone tells me that they have some idea as to how to increase the world size significantly, even if it's not as big as a PC world.
I can accept that this is a different version, and that initially, small maps were necessary to get the game ported quickly, but if they don't eventually increase the world size, I'll definitely feel ripped off, considering that the most appealing aspect of the game to me was the near infinite world generation.
Assuming they improve this aspect, which I believe they will, the resource limit problem should be eliminated. And if they don't improve, we should all stop blaming xbox capabilities, and start asking why they suggested the possibility in the first place. I guess the first step is tracking down who made that claim, but I know it was made.
I'm about to lose popularity points here (bringing my grand total to -3), but I duped my "limited" resources: brick, mossy cobblestone and snow. The rest I refuse to as it is fun to find and I know I haven't found everything yet. I do know I have found all the snow and clay on my map and possibly all of the mossy cobblestone.
I haven't seen a "dark" wood tree... so I'm hoping with 1.8, 4J does expand the map to include new biomes. And that cheat code to spawn a village sounds like a suitable fix for the XBLA version. I have a huge valley area PERFECT for a village if I could spawn one there. 4J could, with the update, provide each player with a few "spawn" seeds (an XBLA exclusive item). For example, I find a nice, empty location on my map and plant the "jungle seed." After a few days worth of sunlight, I can return to see that the terrain has been transformed into a jungle biome.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Trust me, you'll never run out of caves. There are hidden ones uk.

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.

However with the release of 1.8 comes Creative mode and then we'll have unlimited amounts of each resource at our disposal.
True, very true. There's still the issue of survival creations but if I really feel like building then that is the next best thing.
Lol
