The game can lag terribly (we all know) and if you don't have a HD TV that can handle splitscreen with this. Your xbox could lag even more, more or less, even mess up your tv in some cases. It looks weird too.

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.

Where did you hear this? All the talk I got from the developers was that standard definition TV's, unless sufficiently big, couldn't display the text and icons sufficiently enough for distinction. They said that trying to play the game in splitscreen kept them from telling what was in their inventory, not to mention how many of any particular item. Same goes for text, since playing the game in splitscreen lessens the amount of real estate that anything can be displayed, and since the GUI is scaled down accordingly based upon what type of splitscreen is used, it'd just be a miserable pain to see everything on a SDTV in splitscreen.

If anyone wants to play Bauldur's Gate (1, 2, or enhanced) or Icewind Dale PLEASE PM me. I'd like to play.
4j's reason as to no splitscreen on standard: "The inventory and crafting just didn't work in splitscreen Standard Definition - it was too small to make out."

You're not as good as you apparently think you are because what you just stated as fact has no relation to the reality we exist in.

SD tv does not cause game lag. The reason it won't happen is because the text and crafting screen are too small and illegible.

Mess up someone's TV? You being serious? That's a blatant lie man. (sorry if I get your sex wrong)
The only way HDTV's and lag should be used in the same sentence is pertaining to input lag. And in that case, HDTV's lag MORE. Network/game lag has nothing to do with if you have an HDTV or not.

Sorry to be pissy just know what you're talking about because other people will believe what you say.

Wrong. Your TV has nothing to do with whether the game will lag in split screen mode.

Yes, actually it does. Your tv probably isn't processing the xbox fast enough. Which can make the game appear laggy

Im not sure what your referring to.
Depending on the circumstances TV's can have a delay, sure. But you will never find genuine game lag because of a TV.
Two completely different things going on
ok so here is the deal. With SDTV it is already hard to read text and crafting screen! Think about cuting that in half! It would make it non readable and won't see what you have for items.
I only say this cause i have played on a 51 inch HDTV co-op and its not even that great on HD so I can only see SDTV just being crap just crap.
it makes sense if you cant see the text but what if you have a big sdtv then what would be the problem and the tv can cause lag it depends on the refresh rate

A big SDTV wont make much difference. I played battlefield BC2 using a SD projector to display it on my entire wall (easily 3m wide) and could not read one single piece of text.
TV can cause delay, a low refresh rate will cause the image to blur when fast moving objects are on screen, which isint lag or delay. so NO a tv will NOT cause any lag on minecraft

same thing here, i noticed some of my buddies had to move closer to my 42" HDTV to read the items while playing 2 player splitscreen. I cant even imagine what it'd be like on an SD tv.
Honestly even if minecraft allowed SD tv's to play splitscreen, people would be on the forums complaining that the game itself should increase its image quality... Or something stupid like that.
I could be wrong but I thought 4J said something about that problem and that they were going to try to fix it on their Twitter feed. Like I said I could be wrong but I'll try to find that tweet

Retired StaffSDTV's are already compatible, they just didn't add the feature because you wouldnt see **** playing split screen on a sdtv.
Thats all there is to it.
Tbh they should of just let people with sdtv's play splitscreen, regardless of image quality.
