It does look impressive, but all that iron in the one photo... I suspect duping. I'm not saying bad or good, but it could be the cause of such an unfortunate map death. Next time make a back up every once in awhile. Good luck with your next map.

thanks guys... im building a new 1 at a new seed. the other 1 had land issues of mountains... the new seed has a huge ocean and flat islands at spawns... it will be great. i will try and rebuild a few of the origional buildings in here. but the spleef arena, will forsure com back.
I hope that when we get creative, that you can build something so marvelous again without the risk of corruption. That obsidian/glass tower in particular looked pretty sick.
you must have been very lucky to find clay then, as it is known to have been glitch from release. i explored my whole world and didn't find one block of clay.
if this is built after the patch, where clay generation should be fixed, then o.k. it's still duped though which makes it less impressive

I to experienced a loss but I have 3 save back ups, I'm running as the server for my party so I make sure to back up the 1 save on my Harddrive to 1 thumbdrive, again to another separate thumbdrive, and then again to cloud storage, When my game froze and was corrupted, no problem, I lost maybe an hour, but at least I didnt loose any permanent structures.
So I would suggest doing the some especially in game where you invest so much time into

that's a load of bull... i used to dupe all the time and my world NEVER got corrupted and don't say "oh your just very lucky" cause I'm not you wanna know how unlucky i am back when cod MW3 came out i bought it played it for about 3 hours and then it corrupted my hard drive so yea

well i dont want to comment because it will start **** on first thing you said. the second, yes they were fully furnished condos, offices, etc.
yess, thanks. my new 1, i have the world already, its a great flat/island water seed. i will have a new ciy started in no time... by fiday, i will have a skyscraper or 2.

The dupe can is all ready open, just no ones spilled it over.

90% of all worlds I have been invited to this week have been dupe filled(had no idea how wide spread this was). The hosts have all lacked basic MC skills handling mobs, water, fire, farming(if any), guests(strangers) and building. Now I don't blame duping totally, I blame playing predominately peaceful. Duping just compounds the lack of experiencing the learning curve. And more surprising, all these folk are the over 20 crowd.
Now clearly from the photos, time went into building these structures, and they look okay on the outside from a distance.
But they are just shells. A lot of blocks with a lot more windows. Just look at the photos, really look. Blocks with windows. Yes time went into it. Yes it look damn cool from afar. But individually there is no substance. I didn't mean to kick a gamer while he's down, but looking at them again while typing this reveals much.
Constantly reverting back to the prior version, duping, and then updating to get back online is asking for digital trouble.
I actually used to dupe myself. Having played the other games, shocked that there was no creative mode, I saw no trouble with this and saw this argument as foolish. What does it matter if I dupe? But after making a fresh start, living off the digital landscape, I now have a far different perspective.(Plus I've already built a massive map in another game)
I still think its fine if you dupe.
Honestly, no problem with it. But when I see the flood of videos, the pictures, the "come join our world" posts, and now this "my map is dead" with a comment about duping having nothing to do with it...
That burns my blocks.
If you use a known glitch, or "used to" as it was stated, don't dismiss it as a cause.
To the OP, Kudos for not ranting about it not loading. Sounds like your moving on. I don't think its the duping that killed it, it was the reverting back to old version and then updating few times too many that did it. My suggestion is if you must dupe, do it all at once in the prior version, and when you update don't remove the patch later on to dupe. Or make a back before you remove the patch and then dupe.
I never thought I'd be on the other side of the fence. But if someone's peeing over the side, ya gotta say something. Sinful_Shadow's comment is what sparked it in me, not the OP.
May your map rest in peace. The dupe debate never will.

so my xbox corrupted my world? wtf right. it must have been from when i got off earlier.
But anyways. ****. lots of hard work was put into it... and its just going to die.

i will though, be starting a new 1. a better 1. the legacy will not be left behind.

This cool building with water going down isnt seen above..
and neither is the building that started it all...
Heres another skyline picture. That short white building at the beach was just started when it corrupted.
It was a nice city, but duping led to it's destruction.
It must suck to have all that work deleted for nothing.
At least you took some screenshots of it before it got corrupted.
