Are you tired of having to sneak when you want to plant your crops? Annoyed with random patches of dirt appearing and ruining your harvest? Well here is the solution. Fences! Did you know that if you place fences under your farm-land then you can't trample your crops? The secret is that the fence collision model is actually bigger than the farm collision model so that mans you will actually walk on the fence instead of your crop. This was an old trick I used back in the early versions of Minecraft and it works on the Xbox as well. Well anyways I'll give you an example and be on my way, just wanted to share this tip with you all
Well, if you're running version 1.1 or later (I think), you don't trample crops by walking on them anyway, only jumping. Putting fences around your farm is still useful, though.
Well I'm glad I could help you all d: This isn't just to prevent animals, I don't like having to sneak around my farm like a ninja just to make some bread haha :J
wat if u have the water underneath the crops to increase ur crop growth meaning more plots
Water will only hydrate horizontally, not vertically. Also it will only hydrate dirt up to 4 blocks away. So you could create a 9x9 pad of crops with one water block in the middle to hydrate them all.

yes that is so true that is why i was in a cave and i had water sources underneath dirt blocks but i had about 9 blocks around on each side to where you could walk around it up to 9 blocks away there for the only possible source of hydration was coming from underneath or above

Retired StaffWater will keep tilled dirt hydrated upto 4 blocks away. So you dont really need to have the whole thing flowing with water underneath.
