Whenever I have a friend in my world, and I blow up TNT or set something on fire, they start lagging horrendously. If I make too many explosions (like 3 at a time), or if I set a forest on fire, they'll even lag out of the game!
I noticed that the Xbox version of Minecraft has lower limits than the PC version. The worlds are incredibly small, the drop limit is only 200, etc.
So I'm worried that having multiple pistons operating at the same time will cause the game to lag or even crash! I'll throw a switch that makes 10 pistons move, and everyone will just lag out of my game... It makes sense, because it seems like Xbox Minecraft can't handle very much without lagging. Heck, it used to crash when it was trying to load the text on my signs!

Anyone else have this suspicion? =\
yea the pistons are gonna make the game laggy as all hell
yea the pistons are gonna make the game laggy as all hell
I'm kind of dreading it...
I have an auto-harvester prepared for my sugarcane farm, and it will have 120 pistons triggered within 2 seconds, sooooo I really don't want my game to crash...
I doubt it, Xbox seems to be running Mineraft at good pace at the moment. I once placed down over 500 blocks of TNT with duplicator glitch, and my friend didn't even lag. Mabey it's your connection or his. Overuse of pistons might cause lag though.
This is caused by bad internet service providers. At least 75% of the lag in the Xbox version of Minecraft, comes from the internet.
I have great internet,
His service provider isn't exactly the best.
I do notice the game itself lagging when there's a lot of stuff going on, though. Rain just makes it worse. I actually notice my character walk slower sometimes when it's raining.
im sure 4J have/will optimize pistons to not cause any lag, otherwise they would be a pointless.
"Optimized"? Then why didn't they "optimize" other things to not cause game crashes/lag?
I've seen videos of the PC version where activating a single redstone contraption will cause the game to lag severely, solely from the pistons! If it causes the PC to lag, then the Xbox version will definitely lag.
Can you place TNT without it lagging? If you can, I doubt the pisstons will lag. It is probably not your internet. Due to my internet being 1.3MB and I'm able to play without lag, and so are other people. Mabey your xbox is the problem.
It's mainly people connecting to my world. If I set off a chain of explosions, or if I set a bunch of things on fire, my world will lag for them for the next few minutes. Might be their internet, might be the game. I dunno.
120 pistons for just for harvesting? Really?
Anyways, I know that when you fill a room of small slimes say 30 or more the game gets really laggy. More then 50 and the frame rate drops to unplayable levels, even with a single player.
Running a rail in a continual loop will also cause lag.
For pistons, unless its massive clock work, it shouldn't be that bad. I notice redstone never causes lag.
It's all gonna be about design.

Seatbelts are not as confining as Wheelchairs. Buckle up.

But I'm kind of worried that it will.
Would 120 pistons be classified as "overuse"? =\
Ugh

For a sugar cane farm, you need one piston for every plant.
This thread bores me.
Yep. I don't know why I planted 120 sugarcanes... I can only harvest 100 of them, due to the 200 drop limit =(

Ah.
Well, hopefully pistons have no effect on the game whatsoever. I want to have like 500 pistons going at the same time. For no particular reason.

Naaa. My internet is fine. I have approximately 15mb/s upload speed.
I just have way too much stuff in my world, so whenever I perform a lot of simultaneous actions that alter the world, it kind of struggles to keep up.
