Ughhh that would be ridiculous. But possibly correct. I'd like to get this confirmed, before I spend an hour or two tearing it down and replanting it.
I mean, I've seen other videos where people have humongous wheat farms, and they have like thousands of drops... =\
On the xbox? A simple way to test would be to just fill your hot bar with cobble then throw the cobble one at a time down a 2 deep hole and then see if you get all the cobble back when you are done

I simply threw down one cobblestone, then turned a little and started throwing down the rest of it. My first cobblestone disappeared when I hit 200. It took less than a minute, so it's a drop limit instead of a time limit.

Great...
I dont understand this drop limit? The amount of items allowed to be dropped at a time? If so my mushroom farm that i also harvest with water had well over 200 at a time... Usually i get about 600 mushrooms in a single go.

I found one other source that confirmed the same drop limit.
Do you harvest all of your mushrooms at the same time? If so, do you collect the mushrooms as you're harvesting them?
In every situation I try, I cannot have more than 200 drops at one time.
This clears up a lot of questions I had about yielding negative crops for me too.
I have three automatic harvesting farms, Wheat, mushrooms, and cactus which all have negative yields.
If 200 is the limit then I have a lot of work to do to fix my farms.
Me too =(
Sigh. It's a shame there's not a tool that breaks wool faster than your hands... well, besides fire. But I'd prefer to use something with a bit less reckless abandon.
You may be right as i have a tendency to run after the water so i might be picking the stuff up before it is hitting the drop limit.
I love to do that too!
Someone might want to post a thread regarding this drop limit... I don't think many people know about it, so it would be good to get that out there. It certainly would have saved me a lot of trouble...
That is a whole lot of replanting. I just stick to mushrooms mainly. Hate replanting wheat.
If your drop limit holds it's just another point for mushroom farms. Stacjable and the harvest is whole, not half wheat half seed.
Anyways, while all this was going on I made a quick video showing the advantages of a seed hut.
Oh well.

Thanks for the video!
I'm actually STILL tearing down my farm. It takes forever to destroy 1,000 or so wool blocks by hand, because I don't want to catch the wood on fire... Also, fire doesn't seem to work that well in this version. It usually just destroys one or two blocks, then it disappears.
Anyway, I'll likely still be tearing down and rebuilding this farm for the next couple of hours =(
Well there goes my farm. :/ Thanks for the info though. Solved the mystery.
Haha yeah. I'm glad we all figured this out together, as a community.
I just now finished tearing everything down. Now to rebuild, with spaces for pistons.

Hm. I shall do this!

Yeppp I've spent the last hour tearing down this stupid farm... and I'm still working on it. Sighhh =(
You either don't have over 200 drops, or you collect the drops as you're dropping.
I've tested it multiple times, and I can't have more than 200 drops in my world =\
