We don't know the exact date, however we do know that the 1.7.3 update went to Microsoft for certification testing a few days ago. Given that it typically takes up to 10 days for this process, we should most likely have the update by this upcoming Friday (estimation, of course).

I'm certain it will pass testing, and I'm certain it won't take long. Tuesday is our day IMO. Mark it down. I'm finding it hard to play right now because I want to get started with some piston stuff and would rather just wait for it now that it's so close.
I don't think people should be getting there hopes up for next week...Just because it's in cert testing doesn't mean it will pass. I do hope so.

To the OP: I'd advice making a Twitter account and following 4JStudios on there. You'll stay up to date with the latest Minecraft news & you can personally tweet at them a question (they tend to answer the majority of questions brought to them frequently).
Also, I did search it up on Google and found very old and or poor information. Very few were actually reliable and got it right.
I can't wait either but as soon as the update gets here we'll all be looking forward to the next one just like that and then we'll be getting the same threads asking when the 1.8 will be here or how long will it take and what it will include and so on and so on. Not that there's anything wrong w/that. it's hard not to get excited over these updates
I'm more hopeful than some people. I say Tuesday as well. 10 days is the longest certs take, and in no way is MS gonna take longer than they have to before making money hand over fist on this game again. That would be silly. Maybe the 1.8 updates will take a full 10....that WAS a pretty massive content patch. I can see it taking that long just to chew through some of that stuff.

And then before we know it we will be waiting for the 1.8.3 update...
... It's a vicious cycle!
