I have an enclosed farm. The farm is on land, but the plot of land is above water, so the only way for animals to get onto it is to spawn on it.
I have all of my crops planted on grass, but besides that, everything is made out of green wool. There are NO free dirt or grass blocks. The plot of land is above water, and it has 3-block-high glass walls around it.
So how are animals spawning in it? It gets annoying having to replant everything because 4 pigs, 3 cows, and 3 sheep keep trampling over my crops.
Would it have anything to do with how you can walk through sugarcane now? Maybe it considers those grass blocks free now, since you can stand on them, so it spawns animals on them? I dunno. I didn't have this problem before...
May I ask specifically where the grass blocks that you are growing your sugar cane on came from? If you had to trail the grass from the mainland over to your island, get rid of it and plant your sugar cane on dirt blocks instead. If it was naturally occurring, then dig it up and hunt down any nearby grass blocks. If you keep your area completely grass free, you will get no friendly mob spawns. If it is not well lit, you will still get the baddies.

It's well-lit. And yes, I did trail the grass over from the mainland... guess I'll just dig it up, and put normal dirt there.

This thread bores me.
