I am starting to become even more impressed with this company. I guess my minecraft addiction is just going to keep getting worse. Considering how many people play this game though I bet they will still make a decent amount of profit off of the skins.
But... they're not free. It might just be me but I don't think i'll pay any amount of money just for a skin that I can only see in third person, or someone else can see in multiplayer. It really doesn't make much difference to the game.
And instead of 4J doing the work of drawing pixelated bitmaps that they will then charge for, I would pay for a menu in minecraft that opens up a 'paint' style area, with a diagram of the skin so that you can make your own, and I would even pay more than that.
I don't get it, I really don't.

First off, I want to be clear about something. I am ecstatic that 4J chose to do right by its fans and charge LESS than what they had accidentally quoted for. Most people thought it would go the other way, myself included. I will be buying all these skins and I haven't even been able to see a preview for them yet.
I'm really curious to know why we can't make our own skins, however. I understand they said it was for legal reasons, but what legal reasons are those? I wish they would have elaborated a little bit more rather than just giving a general answer and pushing the question aside.

The reason you can't make your own is because someone will make nude/inappropriate skins. And about a million children play minecraft xbox 360 edition. And for legal reasons of stealing stuff and crap. They could get sued. 4J studios doesn't wanna be sued.
