So i have a mob spawner up top and i set the monsters to drop long enough so i can 1-hit kill them. Problem is that as I hit them they don't die, even with a sword. they drop in 2x1 area and I see in youtube videos that people are able to kill instantly (example: monkeyfarms mob spawner) is this a glitch and will they fix it in future updates? it really pisses me off
For some reason, when mobs are near a ledge or the edge of a block, they can't be hurt. This also sometimes causes your sword to break much faster than usual.
Yup, if their top half is blocked (glass aswell) you cannot hit them in the legs. You can with a bow and arrow though. Nice to see another MF fan =P I can see the base hehe

Hahaha i am currently working on a replica of his base! i have the spaces for the pistons ready, but this glitch will just ruin everything.
Yeah I just use a bow In my replica, that works. And I was currently using trapdoors hooked up to a lever for the drop into lava haha
I did the full 100 radius though, and 3 high glass, 5 high cobble, 7 high wood o.O
Also done the enchanting area, and chests.
Damn, you went full out on every detail. mines is only 80 radius, not too small, but the area I picked is surrounded by water so I had to fill it all with sand at first. I'll try it out with bows, thanks
You know, the easy way around this is to have them drop into a 1x2 slot with the *upper* half open, and the *lower* half blocked. Then you can whack 'em all day. Make the bottom a redstone operated trapdoor to get to the goodies.

Yeah thats why I resorted to just using arrows to kill. But then again I setup the trap door to drop them down cause no point in killing them yourself atm without xp
Yep, a glitch. When they are close to edge of a block and you are behind it and hit the mob they will get red like they were hurt but won't stumble back or anything or get hurt. Also when mobs are inside tall grass (Pigs, specifically..Pesky little mob in that grass) they get similar reactions.
