I have a few questions that I am sure I can google and/or YouTube. I want to ask my fellow community members though.
1. What are some uses of a minecart Detector rail?
2. How do I get/make a disc for my player?
3. Do iron doors have any significance other than looks.
4. Do mine arts have a limited life? Same with boats? Like if I leave in one place, will they disappear?
5. Is clay found in sand or gravel?
6. Are mob spawners at a certain level?
7. Any link to a good rail video. Like how to set up a station that I don't need to push a cart to get it going.
#1: you can use them to create arrivals-only or departures-only tracks by using the detector rail to switch the direction of the tracks at intersections. Also, if you put a minecart on a small loop track with power rails and detector rails, you can giv the minecart a little push and have a train that will power redstone devices all around the track in sequence.
#2: You can get discs from dungeon chests, or by tricking a skeleton into killing a creeper with its arrows. This ivolves weakening the creeper, then getting a skeleton to chase you and using the creeper as a shield from the arrows. Right now there are only two discs available, more will come in a future update.
#3: On hard mode, Zombies can break down wooden doors, but they can't break down iron doors.
#4: No, minecarts can break but will drop as a resource that you can pick up and replace. Boats don't spontaneously break either, mobs must be pushing them against land or something and breaking them. Try making a dock or leave the boat further out from shore.
#5 Sand. Look along beaches and near water. usually you'll see the clay out in the open but sometimes little bits of it get hidden underneath sand.
#6 Not certain, but I don't think dungeons have any restrictions on what layer they can spawn in. I've heard of seeds with exposed dungeons in mountain sides, and I've heard of dungeons all the way down at the lava lakes layer.
Well that sums up alot so I wont bother writing much, just things to add. Iron doors can only be opened via power (lever, button, restone, pressure plate etc etc)
Havent really found much use for detector rails, but they're basically a pressure plate but on tracks.
1. What are some uses of a minecart Detector rail?
One that I have not used but have seen is to do a control at a rail switch. An unpowered power rail will stop a car until it is powered up, this can allow you to throw a lever to switch track direction to go a different route from the same main tracks and press a button to power the rail to continue. . By placing a detector before the power rail, if a car passes over the detector it will power the power rail, and the car will not stop.

Dungeons can spawn anywhere
I thought this was added in either 1.2.5(earlier maybe 1.2), or a snapshot.
