Anyone thats played the Minecraft PC version before release should know about all the hate the 1.8 and full release got. People saying that the game was becoming to much of an "RPG". Well I came across the following comment on a YouTube video about the Xbox version going into 1.7.3.
NO! the updates better stop at 1.7.3! i hate the new minecraft and thats the only reason i bought the xbox version because it was older! if they update to 1.8+ id never play it again(7 likes, top comment)
I saw that and I thought "What a selfish *****"
Alot of the people that play Minecraft LOVE the new updates, and for this guy to demand that they not update the console because they think the game is becoming "Skyrim" is just selfish. My point being is that I know Notch/Jeb will probably see something like this before they update it to 1.8, and I don't want them to get any ideas about NOT updating the game for a small band of selfish *****s. So please, don't listen to these guys, the whole reason I bought the MCXBLA version of Minecraft was because my computer's framerate drops considerably when trying to play the game on livable settings, and I've been waiting for the game to update so I can keep on enjoying the wonder of Minecraft. So if Notch/Jeb sees one topic with alot of likes, I don't want them to think thats the majority of the Minecraft community, because there are still more than 6 million players out there.

The 1.8 update is what I'm looking forward to most(until they implement hardcore hopefully) I don't get why people hate on it so much. Updates are awesome for MC and even though I'm not that excited about pistons(don't hate I'd just rather have abandoned mineshafts and ravines to explore) in the new update I'm anxious anyways to get the update regardless. Every update will feel like Christmas morning when i put on MC. Why people hate and especially for something that adds more to the game is beyond me
I'm excited regardless. I've researched what's in store for the full updates, I can't wait for enchantments and equipment repair. Silk touch especially. One of the biggest things I've heard that people hated about 1.8 up is that the terrain is boring and repetitive and looks similar across different worlds, but I don't think I'll have that problem so much, I've had my current save for a month and haven't even gathered enough resources to start my first large build, let alone come close to considering a new map to start on, so the variety will keep me occupied for a while. As far as the whole RPG thing goes, I'll be content as long as we don't get missions and sidequests and junk like that. Having a vague goal about moving to the end and fighting the end dragon is a cool thing to work for, NPC villages are nice, makes the world seem at least a bit more alive, and even experience points I can accept, gives you reason to keep working and fighting mobs. But if we get down to the tediousness of forced exploration and talking to NPC after NPC and fetch quests, I won't enjoy that so much and will probably spend more time in creative than on survival.
It's funny how every hates the terrain after 1.8. I ****ing love it. I'm tired of every single map I generate in the current version has ridiculous ass mountains everywhere. The terrain in 1.8 is better in my opinion. I really don't understand why people have such a hard on for the over the top terrain in this older version. I didn't like it on the PC and I don't like it now.

I know what you mean man, the fact that the terrain generation is consistantly mind-boggling kinda actually ruins it for me. It's all grass, sand, and neat mountains, sometimes snow. I was so taken aback when I played Quesadila the first time, and then I see screenshots and playthroughs of other seeds and it's like, oh, practically every seed has floating land and shear cliffs.

Another thing is about the darker grass (not in swamps)! In Taiga the grass is usually much darker than before, and even AntVenom made a personal texture pack to make the grass foliage brighter!
I don't mind the 1.8 update. The only issue I don't like was the sprinting as it needed to be bound to a key, not double tapping "W". Apart from that, I would still have the updates regardless as it really starts to improve it.
