Lets get one thing straight. I'm all for paying MS points for the skin pack, after all 4j should be paid for their work, but doesn't anyone else here think that a custom skin creator should be included with the up coming skin pack or at least added in the future for "x" amount of MS points?
I'm sure i speak for a lot of people when i say "I'd rather have the option to make my own skins". Having a preset amount of skins to choose from is nice but too limiting and doesn't really make you stand out much.
What im really interested in knowing is if 4J are looking into, or have plans to add a custom skin creator in the future, it would answer a lot of questions and complaints running around these forums.
Initially they will be non-Steve skins that you can get. Further down the line I think everyone (including us) would like some way to create your own skins.
Does that mean 4J is working on a skin creator? No. All this means is that 4J aren't the ones controlling what the DLC is, Microsoft is. Even they would like to see a way to make our own skins, but it's not up to them.
Microsoft would easily make money of this, so i don't this this is unrealistic.
Like i mentioned in my post though, it would be nice to hear what 4J has to say about this, and put an end to all this.
But they wouldn't make as much. The will make more money by releasing more skin packs. That's why I have my doubts we'll ever see a skin editor.
The only thing I can see happening is after releasing tons of Skin Pack DLC, Microsoft would be satisfied with the money they've made off of them, and decide to release a skin editor.
Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
You can always remove inappropriate people from your world, just like you would with griefers. Just because people might make inappropriate skins doesn't mean everyone should be limited in their creativity by not having a skin creator.
By your logic we shouldn't have online functionality in minecraft so that we can avoid the possibility of griefers entering our world.
Honestly, No offence but If you cant handle the occasional inappropriate piece of content coming from online users, than xbox live, heck the entire internet just isn't for you.

I don't think you quite got what he said. What he ment by people are too inappropriate is like how they censor signs. If 4J give you a way to make your own skin people can make naked men running around the game, or other inappropriate things. The game sides at E 10+. It has a lot of restrictions compared to a T or M game. As far as I know there is no rating on the PC Minecraft, that's why you can cuss on signs and have the ability to mod just about anything.

I understand what you are saying, but it just doesn't work like that. The game is in fact rated E10+. but the xbox live terms of service says the following; "By creating an account or otherwise accepting this contract, you represent that you are at least 18 years old or have reached the age of "majority" where you live.Your parent or legal guardian must set up an account on your behalf and accept this contract if you are under 18 or have not reached the age of "majority". found at http://www.xbox.com/...S/legal/livetou
This means the game is rated E10+ up until you sign in to xbox live, and any underage kid that does play xbox live has their parents consent to these terms of service, in which case the parents are responsible for any inappropriate things they may run into.
If what you say about censoring was in fact true, then tell me whats stopping people from making giant pixel porn art or a giant penis tower in an offline game?
The fact is the addition of a custom skin creator would have absolutely nothing to do with censoring issues, and people that cant handle anything inappropriate, whether it be mild or sever, should not be on xbl in the first place.
Its rather an issue of time and money when it comes to this.
The only thing I can see happening is after releasing tons of Skin Pack DLC, Microsoft would be satisfied with the money they've made off of them, and decide to release a skin editor.
Was thinking the same thing myself. If 4J do end up adding a custom skin creator i hope it would be free to the people who already bought the skin pack.
Having an account on Xbox Live and signing doesn't magically make the games rating mean nothing.
It doesnt magically change the rating of the game, yes. But the moment you go on xbox live and play with other people, the guarantee of the game being "appropriate for children" or E10+ changes. If you invite me to your room i could build giant Nazi swastika's, make some pixel porn art and easily harass you either verbally via mic or through the message system on xbl, or even write profanity with the blocks all over your world. I can go into your minecraft home and write racial remarks and almost anything i want on a sign. Tell me, wheres you're precious E10+ rated game when that happens? Theres no perfect filter to prevent people from doing these things on xbl. Thats why according to the xbox live terms of service you have to be of age, or have parents consent. In other words be mature and ready for someone to say, or do something stupid/offensive once in a while.
With that being said not having your own custom skin creator because someone might make an inappropriate skin is the same as not having the ability to have anyone join your room because they might make inappropriate content or whatever. If it does happen, do what you already do to griefers, boot them.
In the end the possible addition of "Custom skin creator" will not be based on whether people will make inappropriate content or not. That much is certain.

Curse PremiumToo many people are inappropriate.

Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime.
Microsoft has decided just to give us fish, not teach us how to. I know it's a weird analogy to use, but it kind of fits.
