From May 9th to June 15th it took only 37 days to update, from June 15th to July 4th to 14th (as it just entered testing and could take up to 10 days) is only 20 to 30 days. This is a bit of a faster rate than the PC version updated. so 1.7 will be here soon and 1.8 is in development right now as well then they are jumping to 1.2.3/5. so expect to see 1.8 next month or two.
also 4J just had to transfer all the code to Xbox, give it time and once all the important mechanics and new lighting are implemented the updates will probably come faster.
You are totally wrong. The first update was just a bug fix so that's the only reason it came out so fast.
They also started working on 1.7.3 waaaay earlier than June 15th. I'd guess they started at the release of the game or maybe even before the release. And they are also already working on 1.8.2 for quite some time.
why should it matter how long they've been working on it? it should just be the fact that it will be out in a month or two. I'm not comparing how long it took them to make each update, I'm comparing how long in between each update they were released.
This was exactly how I thought it would be. People think, despite it being hard to code or not, that 4J can just do a rain dance and "walla" updated. The time it does take is also very short and updates are being clumped together. So I say take the time pc took to update from 1.6.6 beta to the coming 1.3 in august and divide it by 3 or 4 and we have our dates.
Just my estimates and opinions.
Edit: I know this is very optimistic sooo ssshhhh!

When 1.7 comes out then lets see how long it takes. You cant really count too much of the Bug fix because it was a small bug fix, it would be comparable to the .6 for Pc. Remember 1.6.6 came out as a bug fix for 1.6.
So really, when our 1.7 comes out, then lets compare dates.
4J has also already stated that 1.8 would be one of the hardest updates to put out due to the vast amount of content. You shouldn't expect 1.8 for a while.

But the only updates we have to go on are bug fixes... plus due to varying sizes of the updates there's really no pattern to expect, so don't expect 1.8 for a while, it'll take longer than it took for them to finish 1.7.
Just because they are updating faster then usual doesn't mean anything. There used to be friday updates WAY back, then it got slower and slower. It sped up again, but then 1.7 was out forever. 1.8 was in dev for months. The updates do not follow a set schedule.
Say Player 1 makes a map of the empire states building. It takes him say 300 hours to create it.
Now Player 2 wants to make the same map. It takes himi about 300 hours also.
Yes player 2 can look at player 1 map and see what blocks go where but in looking between maps and making sure you have the right lbocks in the right spots takes time even though you already know what your making.
Same instance. Mojang did minecraft and took 1000 hours to make 1.8 update.
4J will take the same amount of time if not longer to make the same update cause yes they do already have the code to copy instead of think of it but now they are making it on a different code base so different bugs and errors will come up that mojang didnt have.
So what you should learn from this is that even though they are just copying work already done they will still run into problems just like mojang did when originally making the game.

Exactly because it's not as simple as cut and paste, as most of us like to believe. But they seem to be moving as fast as if it were lol.

the team that make the pc version don't make the xbox version, they are a way different teams
