I just picked up the game tonight (xbox version) and I'm just slightly lost now as what to do.
I've spent the entire day tunneling and exploring and building a house in the clouds (literally), but I can still only craft simple things like charcoal, stone, Iron ingots and the like.

Is there an online component where I can play with others? It doesn't seem to be working on xbox i don't think.

Can I download an explore others maps?

Are there objectives of any kind? Can I create maps with objectives for other people?

How do I find gold? How do I craft the portals to the nether realm?

I mean at this point I am just loaded with questions and I don't really know where to go with the game other than maybe starting another new game.


So what do I do?

What to do:

You read the MinecraftWiki, although it's more current to the PC Version but you can figure out alot from the Wiki. I'm not sure if there is a section about the XBOX version, but you CAN look at the PC aspects and figure out what isn't in 1.6..

About Multiplayer:

Multiplayer is purely Friends-only, There is 'servers' but you need to have Xbox Live Gold membership to play with them.

You're new to this whole Minecraft thing, aren't chya?

You have to have friends playing to play MP with them. You can jump in any time with them as long as they give you permission or let you stay. You can have people join you by inviting them.

Play with friend you can trust, find diamonds, make a pickaxe, and make a nether portal. Mine diamonds and die in lava then rage quit. Dig down and find bedrock. Build your dream house. Kill mobs.

The world of Minecraft is endless

Make a portal like that, remember to only use obsidian.

When you make a portal, it has to be lit on fire using flint and steel to be activated.
