I have 2 achievements left to get, the ride a pig and have it hurt itself one and the friend 5 wolves ones...
I have given up on getting the pig achievement coz I lost my only saddle when I fell into lava while mining, but I still wana try and get the wolf friends one, but I cant find them on my world anywhere... I seen one of them once, before I knew about the achievement and i didnt friend it coz i was busy doing other things :(.
Since then (and that was weeks ago) I havent seen a single wolf on my world, ive done a bit of searching around, cant find them at all, i have a bazillion other animals, but no wolfs.
So yeah, is there any spot they like to appear at? like near hills or trees and lakes or something? Any tips?
I want the achievement :(.
Thanks everyone

~ Dream like you'll live forever, Live like you'll die tomorrow ~
I know they commonly spawn in forest areas, during the daytime (or somewhere early in the morning). The typical spawn displays a cluster of them (ranging from 1-4, sometimes even more but distributed on that piece of land). Sometimes a set of various other animals (cows, ducks, etc.) can prevent more wolf spawns.
Well heres what i figured out. In order for more wolves to spawn you have to have more players in you world and let them build a house and etc. Then they usually spawn around the area of your house :F. That was the only way they spawned in my world. I had friends make house and wolfs started to spawn again :F i have sixteen wolfs now

Visit My Dark Fire Breathin Dragon It Likes To Have Friends
Hey, if you want friend me, I have a saddle in one of my worlds. And I can help you get it because it's a helluva lot easier to get it with a friend pushing the pig over the ledge.
With the dogs it's just a matter of waiting. Keep bones on you (I usually keep 10 or so on me) having 10 or so will ensure you can get at least 2 dogs (with horrible luck) and have enough room in that slot for more bones if you should get them.
Just a note, you dont need to have all 5 dogs at the same time, you only need to have had 5 total. I got the achievment when I had 3 because 2 had died prior to me getting the last one.
From personal experience, I have invented the minecraft inverse-desire theory: The more you want something, the less likely it is to happen. It's happened so many times to me, I'll see 50 skeletons and the second I think that I need some bones, it suddenly takes ten minutes to find one. Anyways, just have some bones handy all the time, and just hang out and do your thing. I've seen 10+ wolves in the past 3 days by doing jack ****.
When I go into caves and mine deep I have to play on peaceful because a spider surprising me will make me not want to play for a month and very paranoid.
