i'm currently working on a huge room for slimes to spawn in so i can get slime balls but none are spawning. i was exploring a cave when i came upon two slimes in the same room. i thought "awesome! now i can shape out a farm!" none have spawned though. can someone tell me why or what i need to do. other mobs have spawned but i'm working on lighting up the room with glowstone. (currently have touches)

From former knowledge, you only really need a 2x2 tunnel, so any bigger should be fine. Everyone above is correct; light torches up in there like it's a 100 year-old woman's birthday cake. Mobs CAN spawn there, but it reduces the percentage of Slimes spawning (was it 4% less?).
The Lava because for some reason slimes have a better spawn rate when near lava. Also the 5 block high rule is for the bigger slimes. The higher the roof, the more big slimes spawn.

and i just laughed, lol.one more question, will the slime spawn if i'm really far away? my house is a pretty good distance from this slime chunk.

I'm not 100% sure but I would figure it would be better for them to spawn when you're not around maybe
