whenever i play Minecraft for the xbox it seems as if diamonds are much easier to find than the pc version and are closer together. for example: i found 3 pockets of diamonds in one section of cave and i barely had to main anything. i need someone to tell me why they are much more common.
My friend has amazing luck, we had around 30 diamonds in an hour. Also, there are no diamonds on the tutorial. I'm assuming so you can't mine the obsidian under the 'Minecraft' sign and make an easy portal.
Yeah I do think diamonds are more common.. Well remember PC constructs more of the map whilst you move in further, as Xbox edition is limited to map size. That's somthing to think about, so far gone through three diamond picks, still got 18 left with also owning all the other diamond equipment:)

Actually There are diamonds in the tutorial. if you mine in the village mine eventually you can find diamonds
I always do cave running before tunnel mining, but yeah. It really is the luck of the draw, once you explore your map even more, you're going to find plenty of caves that let you down. 'Tis random, 4J didn't change anything about world generation.
Well I don't think the limited size has anything to do about it. I mean, yes, there are less chunks in the 360 worlds, but the diamond algorithm is the same as the PC version (3 diamonds per chunk, according to the wiki), so the size of the map would actually mean there are less diamonds, total.
Im starting to have feelings that because of the limited map size diamonds are more squished together
i had the same idea but i don't think 4J changed world generation. an interesting question, however, is are the seeds from xbox and computer the same just xbox'es are shrunken?
i'm glad they're easier to find. i could never find diamonds on the pc. literally never... and when i did, i found just three or two at a time. if i was lucky, i would find four diamonds in a vein.

There is a portal IN the Minecraft sign. Also the sign is made of wool with the exception of stickypistions and levers for doors on the side of it. I know this b/c I burnt it down TWICE.
Dig down to bedrock
Count up from bed rock to level 14
Strip mine on that level
Enjoy
Strip mining is extremely inefficient. You can reveal every block in a chosen mine space by digging through one third of the blocks, That's accomplished by digging 1-wide trenches every 3rd row. This leaves walls 2 blocks thick between the trenches, so you can see all the blocks from the 2 adjacent trenches.
Diamonds live at Y=4-15 or so. So get down there, and start trenching, or as it's being called: branch mining.

I've never mined anything in the tutorial, so I don't know about underground diamonds but, there is a chest with a full set of diamond equipment. So your assumption is incorrect.

You can find diamond easily within 10 min on a new map. 3 or 4 if you're lucky.
For something so "valuable", that has only 1 exclusive use (mining obsidian), I think it's a little too common.
Then again, I know where to look.
