Anybody else notice the weird gravel beaches?

Whenever I generate a new world I come across "beaches" made up of gravel. It seems that sand is supposed to be there because the gravel even stretches out into the water. Is it a bug because gravel has the same properties as sand?

Not sure if its a bug, but it happened to me also. I found piles of gravel in the Nether to! thought that was even more strange.

I hope they remove them. I always get them confused with beaches of Sand while looking at the map.

I have seen gravel beaches on a lot of worlds before the clay fix. Trust me, they are entirely normal. Same goes for gravel in the nether.

in the older updates they had gravel "beaches" or gravel "ponds" and were not rare but not super easy to find.
