I was like you guys, i never found any for a long time. Then two days ago when i was exploring, i found a patch of 42 blocks of clay. I was then able to make ALOT of brick blocks. Trust me, the update works, clay is there, you just need to look for it. Try looking by water. Good luck!
Clay is supposed to only spawn with sand surrounding it (I believe) so try deserts, beaches, and of course, underwater
