me and some of my friends are looking for a form of currency for when we make our world public just in case they enable pc-xbla connected worlds so we can sell stuff (not selling tools cus we aint gonna be killed by our buyers) and we want something to ya know use for money
i meant to also put in with this post that i have not seen one yet and i still havent crinision i refuse to try that method just post a link to any links to the post if there are any ok
after looking at a few threads, netherrack seems like a good enough currency, and can be tracked if anyone tries to go to the nether. or you can wait for the adventure update and use emeralds or w/e the currency is for npc villagers.

so basically you know you are in the wrong and you're too lazy to fix it yourself...
ok thanks pbskrilla my friends aggreed to that when it came to buying building materials i will have to figure it outsomething to use to replace it and to everyone that was a **** when i said i refuse to use it it is because those never work for me and i even tried it i even tried the search and got nothing might be my cpu but those 2 items never work and they didnt work which is why i posted this
I never understood netherrack....to completely control that market you'd have to completely control ALL the lava in your world and shut down an entire world from use. I'd think paper would be better. You only need to fully search the surface world and collect all sugar cane. A sight easier than mining every inch of the world to control lava. Though it does remove something fun to farm. And cane could be hidden inside dungeon chests if you haven't found them all. Not super likely, hell the chests aren't even super likely as far as I can tell. But still, something to remember.
Gold is GREAT, but not being able to build powered rails would literally kill the game for me, so I imagine its a hard sell for others too. Diamond might not be the worst thing, super rare, finite, and basically not needed. I've only ever even made a single diamond pick in any game I've played for no other reason than they simply aren't needed. Why waste finite resources on speed? Stone works for nearly every need, and iron lasts long enough when only used to harvest what its needed to.
Wheat is used sometimes. I wouldn't, personally, as there is no way to really control that as seeds are easy to get. Glowstone dust is also good, but you'd have to ban glowstone in general or suffer general loss over time as people made lamps and have them broken for money...in which you aren't guaranteed the 4 powders you spent in return. It wouldn't take long to harvest all, or most, of it from the nether either. Leaving some for others to find wouldn't hurt anything.
Flint....hmmm......has anyone tried using flint? Not something that would be used up fast, tinderflint lasts a good while and isn't needed often....only needs one to make. No one is gonna make arrows with em, not if they had sense. Better to farm em from skeles. Nearly no one actually uses gravel as a serious building unit...some I've seen used it with redstone gadgets, and a few build water domes with it. Its finite, but plentiful, and its a time consuming art trying to force gravel to turn. I suppose thats the burner, there. You'd have to spend hours smashing gravel, resetting it, smashing it again, just to start the economy. Glowstone would take far less time, as would paper. Those are both more desirable in building though. Particularly glowstone.
I think I prefer paper really. Feels right. easy to control. Easy to fill the market. Anyone wanting sugar can buy it. The only ones really getting bit here are people wanting cane water doors. Not enough folks to fuss, really. And you still get to use the nether. With such limited world sizes....more space is good space.

sugar cane is used for cakes too. you dont need to watch out for all the lava in the world because you can just check the map every once in a while to see if anyone is in the nether (people dont show up on the map when they're in the nether). just need to make 1 nether portal in your bank vault or something.

yeah i think i got all if not most the diamonds on the map and the vault is on top of my house i control currency and theres a nether portal with a 4 layer thick wall all around it and 4 layer roof puter layer is dirt next layer is cobble next layer is reglar stone and inner layer is obsidian
The best currency is lapis lazuli because you cannot endlessly farm it and it isnt difficult. Golden ingots work well too. I dont think currency is needed, I think trading items for items works well, but I see why you would want currency. Of course you can use both trading and currency together, =)

I heartily diagree on golden ingots. Gold is too useful, and not nearly plentiful enough, to be held or wasted. I've burned up around 100 just in powered rails to get me across a river to the mine, and then again to get me down to bedrock. Not really that far a trip...though it takes a lot of powered rails to go up from bedrock. One every 3-4 blocks to be exact, to move up and a constant angle. Maybe I'm doing it wrong though, I dunno how better to handle that.
Still, gold is NEEDED. And if you take lapis lazuli, then you basically are saying no one can have blue blocks to use in building. I could crush such an economy in a handful of houses. I love me some blue. Black too, and squids are annoying to farm. At least they CAN be farmed. Blue is finite, and finite sucks when you need lots of something.

that is true and i decided against netherrack like i said i was going to use earlier because someone who is now banned from game (invite only so far) placed netherrack all over another friends house and set all of it on fire so netherrack is to easily obtained now

I'll just leave this here.
Oh and just so you know, there's a search bar all the way at the top of the page, you know, the one you scrolled passed to make this post?
so basically you know you are in the wrong and you're too lazy to fix it yourself...
and you want us to help you? Naaaahhhh
