I have always thought if you took a game that was on a larger and more powerful platform and ported it to a smaller platform, you wouldn't be able to use the smaller platform to its full potential. What if instead of porting the game from the computer to the Xbox, started from the ground up and re-created the game for this platform.
Do you think that the xbox version of the game would have been able to handle alot more than it curently does? I am going to use an example of what i mean, for the Playstation Vita they are making Little Big Planet, but they said that they could have taken the "easy way and did a port" but they made the game strictly for the vita to utilize the the full potential of the game for a handheld device, and pretty much made the game for a handheld and for the console the same experience.
Do you think that they could have taken this approach with minecraft or is this just a pipe dream for a lot of us non PC gamers to enjoy what could have been a PC like experience.
"I havent played the PC version that much, i cant really see much difference between the console version and the Pc version, other than world size and different features"And the Playstat Vita version of the Little big planet anded up pretty much look just like the Playstation 3 version is what i meant to explain.
There are more restrictions on the Xbox 360 version of the game than just hardware. We don't know what concessions were made when the deal was struck to bring the game to the Xbox 360. We also know that Microsoft has limits on certains things like the size of Save Files (65MB), which is why our worlds aren't bigger. Even though the Xbox is a very powerful machine, it's still 7 year old technology and there is only just so much that can be done with it.
