I have only seen 1 or 2... Why? I play a lot, and looked for them at night quit a few times.

I haven't encountered one, but I'd expect them to be a little bit too overpowered to be a common mob.

They simply are, that is the way they were coded.

Why do you want a lot of them? I personally prefer killing them individually...

In regards to the Jockeys though I don't think I ever seen one or know what they look like...*quickly searches an image on google*

They're rare enough to the point that I forgot they existed..

I forget the exact numbers but I believe its something like... whenever a spider or skelly is spawned, and theres enough room for a Spider Jokey, there is a 1% chance that the spider/skelly will spawn as a Spider Jokey.

I have never seen a spider and skelly conjoining after they have spawned nor have I ever seen proof of this. (proof would be a video of the occurrence.. not a few pictures).


But I believe they are so rare because they are a tad bit strong. The agility of a spider, range of a skelly, and damage of both of them. That and just to have one of them "HOLY SHTT! ITS A SPIDER JOKEY! " moments when you do see one.

The post below me made me want to get a refresher on spider jokeys so I looked them up a bit.

SPIDERS have a 1% chance of spawning with a skelly riding it creating the Spider Jokey. That makes it rare in itself but on top of that, the skelly may dismount the spider after a random amount of time or die of suffocation (more so in caves) because of the spider scaling walls and running into the ceiling.
Skellys and Mob Spawners will never spawn a Jokey either.

Close. A Spider has a 1% chance to spawn with a Skeleton rider. That means a 1/100 chance for it to happen. A Skeleton cannot spawn as a Spider Jockey, only Spiders can and the two cannot merge together after they spawn. It may look like they can but that is because of the laggy nature of a Spider Jockey. It often looks like the spider is ahead of the Skeleton, when it's really just the two lagging.

I have seen a few in the game, once on my Singleplayer world, and a couple times on servers. With all this talk of spider jockeys, I was just imagining a Creeper-Jockey. The speed of a spider, explosiveness of a creeper.....

Spider jockeys have a 1% chance of spawning, probably because they are two mobs combined. You kill the spider, the skeleton is still there and vice versa, so they can be difficult to defeat. Having my house surrounded by spider jockey's isn't exactly my idea of fun.

I was digging pretty deep underground and saw one when I hit a hole that opened into a cave. I saw a spider jockey, so I broke a big enough hole to hop though.....and it was gone.....

I've encounted 4 or 5 and killed them each time.
I saw three less than a hour.

Weird... I must have bad luck then,lol

I have been playing quite a bit and have only found 2. I made a slime area today thanks to the advice on here and had one spawn and a fair amount of slime.

I'v only encountered a jockey 2 times, a couple od days ago on Xbox and a couple of years ago in the PC beta on my very first play

I have only seen one. The skeleton was in fact Chuck Norris. I lost.

Damn and since the first day MC XBOX EDdtion came I have yet to see one spiderjockey. fml
