I had an idea for skins or character design that I haven't seen before, since this the "Xbox version" and Mojang has even said they want it to go it's own direction, why not make different outfits in the crafting interface. Wool and dyes serve no other purposes except pixel art and some decor, but if you put them together on a crafting table you could have a red shirt or blue pants the same way you make iron chestplates and leather pants. I hope you get the idea. It could be expanded upon and changed, but I doubt it would ever be put in game. It wouldn't replace the armor either, it's just changing your clothes and different color combinations would lead to different patterns of clothing.
Again, this is just an idea. I know it isn't going anywhere.
This idea was suggested one other time a long time ago before the game was even out. It's a good idea, but it won't happen. Skin DLC is coming out around the time of 1.7.3 and people just need to learn to deal with it. Those unwilling to pay can sill get a few free new skins, but they won't add any way to make your own skins. They'd lose money that way.

I understand skins are coming out soon, and I will be buying every piece of dlc no matter the cost. I'm extremely obsessed. I was just thinking of different things which could be implemented if m$ allowed it. I'm not one of the people upset to pay for a product.
Shame you can't have your Xbox live avatar in the game that would be good to see them made low res
You know what?? Since MC came to Xbox I thought they were going to go that route and I was surprised when they didn't. i'd be so happy if you could use your avatars as in some cases on Indie games in XBLA there are avatar games where you use your own avatar
Ya, this idea has been kicked around a lot. I don't really entertain it, but I suppose it could be fun.
Skins are more than just a set of clothes to many players, especially on PC with the larger number of players and public servers. You can always recognize DeadMau5 (or clones) from a distance.
That's probably why they've never implemented it. It has nothing to do with Microsoft......
