I think this thread can essentially be closed. It seems like everyone generally agrees that "DLC should cost something" And there's no real point for everyone to post the same thing, over, and over, and over, and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
So it seems like there's no more point to this anymore.
It's kind of living in the clouds to expect the DLC that only changes the look of the game rather then the gameplay to be free. Everything cosmetic always costs.
I don't think skins are all important either.
What? There's a mirror in MC?
I agree, it's all been said.
PS: Don't you just hate it when some yoyo starts some BS troll post to get everybody wound up, but never shows back up to comment? I think Jaszoon should be up for some heavy criticism, not 4J!
I think that having paid DLC is stupid, the PC minecraft had no DLC, and now 4J is getting greedy? Screw them. Please scrap the "DLC" area in the menu. Or else. You will become.. EA and Gameloft, EA being much worse.
You are a complete and total asshole. So a company wants money and that makes them greedy? How retarded are you? I can't even describe my rage at reading that post... They don't give a **** about your shitty/wrong opinions but it's just such an entitled thing to say.
BTW: Nintendo has said before they don't mind user created tributes to their games... Ever played a flash game that was a Super Mario parody of some sort??
Yes I have... And guess what! It was created not by a company but by a person or small group of people.
Here's the problem with the skins should be free theory, someone has to make these skins for the 360 version. Someone will have to code at a desk for a decent amount of time, someone will have to WORK to get these skins ready for the 360 version. Someone will have to be paid for that effort, and I know most people (myself included) don't like to work for free. I have bills to pay and mouths to feed, and it is quite difficult to do on a salary of $0.
Just food for thought, everything that is necessary for you to play the game will be free (updates). If you want to customize your character then you'll just have to fork out the money. Welcome to the real world people.
Problem with that.. Skinning does not require coding at all. It's moving a mouse around...
^^ Pretty sure you wouldn't be uploading your custom skins to 4J's imaginary servers your talkin about for others to download..?
I would think if anything one gamertag would make his/her own skin for personal use only.

That might work if 4J made it so that any skins you made were tightly restricted to your gamertag and no redistribution whatsoever, but it's more realistic that if 4J made a custom skin editor for the Xbox edition, they'd also have a means to share the skins too. And if they allow redistribution, it's either going to be up to 4J or MS LIVE to be the means of sharing, which would make them liable in an infringement suit.
I might not pay for skin but they have the right to charge with people bitching. Now texture packs, that I'll buy. All the people complaining about having to pay for some else's work come to my house and work for free. I'll gladly not pay you for your work.
They should add skins as updates not dlc, remember Xbox edition is supposed to be it's own game.why do people keep comparing it to the pc.
they are not working for free if iv already paid them 1600 ms points.
You paid them for the work they've already done. When you bought the game. You bought the game they already made. If you want stuff they are making NOW, you will have to buy that stuff. If you don't buy THAT stuff, then they worked on THAT stuff for free. Please don't act like a child, I really expect more of you people that this. I probably SHOULDN'T, given that most are probably not self sufficient adults with a working grasp of how reality is. But I do, so please TRY and live up to that standard.
I wouldn't mind paying for skins, as that effects only the user and isn't all that big. However i wonder how they would do it for texture packs. As being would they only show for the user, or for all in the server. If server then it should be free as it would force others to have to have it.
So far, every add-on on the Minecraft world, be it updates, skins, mods, etc. Are all free. If you guys decide to put out DLCs. Almost every Minecraft gamer will give you guys criticism for paid practices (no matter how cheap it is).
Minecraft is all about being free except, obviously, for the game itself. Minecraft is supposed to have the feeling of "free". Minecraft is in the spirit of being free. Sure, you can argue that multiplayer servers have hosts that charges money to its players, but those "charges" are not made by official game developers but by gamers themselves.
My best advice. Make the DLCs absolutely worth its price and so far.. Skin DLCs? Please... 4J, you're better than that. Everyone practically knows that it is easy to develop a free alternate way if you guys chose to do so.
Dont get me wrong, I love you guys. However, I know that there is absolutely no moral compass when extra money is in the equation. I might get banned for saying this..
4j Studios... dont be pathetic...
What I don't understand is if you have a portal that allows you to come here from an alternate universe, why are you visiting just to play Minecraft?

If that's how you feel then maybe we should be paying for every update made to the game since they are putting in "work" that they should be getting paid for.

Speak for yourself. When i bought Minecraft 360 version I bought a Game in development which came with the promise of free updates untill up to par with the pc version and DLC that will cost points.I do not have to buy DLC for the game to work so that is entirely my decision
Realistically they'll probably never be on par with the PC version unless they start charging for updates somewhere down the line. We're already going to have to wait until like early next year for 1.2.3 so I really don't see them being able to maintain the free updates if they want to continue the project after that.

Nope.
Ok, most *reasonable* people do. Now would you kindly go away.

Keep yourself up to date with the Minecraft Forum rules!

Anyway, I never expected this thread to take off. :-)
Herobrine exists because we let him exist.
Just my thought on this.
