Actually the game turned a profit on the very first day......just so you know,
I I never expected any DLC to be free and will never expect DLC to be free. I never work for free (unless you count the yardwork the wife has me do) and will never work for free (unless Im helping a friend or relative, even then I may not work for free).
Yes it's true they made a profit within the first 24 hours BUT they still have to work on this game for several months yet. So that "profit" is going to have to be reinvested into extending the lifespan of the game as long as possible.

True, and there's also the fact that the rate of sales for this game is only going to slow down now that people already have it, so it's not like core game sales could support any add-ons to come.
Isnt their a way to make it so for example you have brought the PC minecraft,
This will never happen. There's two big issues, the first being people who make obscene skins, and the second being copyright infringement. People can get away with making skins based on copyrighted characters/things on the PC because it's all user created, Mojang holds no liability for that. But if users infringed copyright and those skins were hosted on 4J's or MS's servers, the copyright holders could go after them.
sick and tired of people claiming its as hard to port a game as it is to make a game from scratch.
people even go so far as to say "but they didn't even use the source code or even look at it once and made the xbox version entirely from scratch!"....i cant help but laugh a little.
to professional coders who have done it their entire life, its a simple job, might take a short while sure, thats simply because of how sloppy minecrafts code truly is, apparently billions of lines of code and most of it is not even needed.
the only problems they faced was creating even more glitches when porting it, and getting the xbox version to not lag in split screen / multiplayer (which it already does anyway, so failed).
You sound like a person that doesn't really entirely understand what a porting job like this actually entails.
Maybe you could cite for me all the experience you have porting games?
Wait until they start charging for updates. that'll cause a forum meltdown
Lol I'd gladly pay for updates too if they kept updating the game jlike they currently do with the PC version. Realistically those free updates are only going to get them so far anyways. They'll probably stop making updates either at 1.2.3 or shortly after.
Here's the problem with the skins should be free theory, someone has to make these skins for the 360 version. Someone will have to code at a desk for a decent amount of time, someone will have to WORK to get these skins ready for the 360 version. Someone will have to be paid for that effort, and I know most people (myself included) don't like to work for free. I have bills to pay and mouths to feed, and it is quite difficult to do on a salary of $0.
Just food for thought, everything that is necessary for you to play the game will be free (updates). If you want to customize your character then you'll just have to fork out the money. Welcome to the real world people.
*clap clap* very well said, and as some one mentioned, being a long time XBL member you get used to having to pay for all DLC content, add-ons and so on not only that but I would have absolutely no problem in paying some one for doing their job. Simple they work, they get paid (even if most of the money is going to M$)
Oh, sorry, by DLC I meant like... Stuff released by mojang, like a whole new gameplay changing place...which you have to PAY for. But I still don't like having to pay for cosmetic things. Really? I want to wear a tux, but no. I'll have to PAY for it. Do you really ink anyone wants to pay to wear a whole skin in minecraft? No... So I personally hate the idea of skins as DLC... Paid DLC.
As the wonderful creators said its a change going from java to whatever scripting the xbox requires so without adequate payment they will not want to continue making the ideas for both pc and xbox not even to mention the pocket editions.

I can see where you're coming from and why it sucks to pay for cosmetic changes, but it's going to have to be for-pay no matter what.
I mean think about it. Even if 4J takes custom skin submissions from users, there's still going to have to be staff on 4J and MS to ensure that nothing obscene or potentially copyright-infringing is used in the game, lest they find themselves facing a lawsuit. As long as there is staff that has to do that, there's staff that needs paid, and their paycheck is going to be earned by charging for skins.
It's not really up to them now is it? I don't know why people are criticizing 4J about the whole DLC bit. Its Mircosoft not 4J. I bet if it were up to 4J, all those things you mentioned would be free, but Microsoft would never allow it. Don't call 4J pathetic, if it weren't for them there wouldn't even be minecraft on the the xbox. People these days are so unappreciative. Gets my gears grinding sometimes.
So far, every add-on on the Minecraft world, be it updates, skins, mods, etc. Are all free. If you guys decide to put out DLCs. Almost every Minecraft gamer will give you guys criticism for paid practices (no matter how cheap it is).
Minecraft is all about being free except, obviously, for the game itself. Minecraft is supposed to have the feeling of "free". Minecraft is in the spirit of being free. Sure, you can argue that multiplayer servers have hosts that charges money to its players, but those "charges" are not made by official game developers but by gamers themselves.
My best advice. Make the DLCs absolutely worth its price and so far.. Skin DLCs? Please... 4J, you're better than that. Everyone practically knows that it is easy to develop a free alternate way if you guys chose to do so.
Dont get me wrong, I love you guys. However, I know that there is absolutely no moral compass when extra money is in the equation. I might get banned for saying this..
4j Studios... dont be pathetic...
Since you're in the free mood... Head on over to my place and wash my truck, mow my lawn and then do my laundry for free! If you do a good enough job there might be a nice shiny quarter in it for you!Obviously you're another person feeling entilted! I'm happy to pay for DLC as long as 4J keeps supporting MCX360 with updates.
I don't care about paying for skins, I like the Steve skin and I understand 4J needs to make money (despite the fact that they basically made millions off someone else's work). What I'm unhappy about is that they gave DLC priority over new updates.

I dont think they did. We don't have a release period for the skins yet (or do we?) but the 1.7.3 update is scheduled for early July... that's sometime in the next two weeks if they stay on schedule.
Also, greetings from a fellow Borderlands fan, BL2 is probably going to be the only thing to distract me from Minecraft come September.
People seem to be under the false assumption that Microsoft control every aspect of the costing of DLC. This is false. DLC is content created and costed by the developers. Microsoft provide the platform to deliver that DLC to customers. The developer needs to pay Microsoft to allow DLC to be distributed, but beyond that Microsoft don't care, although they may take a small cut of the DLC cost - which is fair, given there's administrative overhead on Microsoft's part to deal with MS points, etc.
People also seem to be under the false assumption that they're entitled to get something for nothing. Somebody has to create this content, bundle it, get it certified, release it, support it. This costs money. On top of that, developers need to make money - that's called "being in business". People need to get paid, so they can eat, send their kids to school, pay their mortgages. And you want to argue about $2 for a skin pack that isn't mandatory to play the game? Come on!
People also seem to be fixated on the idea of custom mods and custom skin editors. People: this will NEVER happen on Xbox. Let it go.
I'm sorry Microsoft do control the pricing market .. some developers would like to give out free content .. Mortal Kombat, Red dead redemption .. both of these wanted to bring out free DLC but Microsoft rules .. of what i know is everyone is allowed 1 free DLC and that's it they have to charge after that ..
True ... but that's still not about a money grab by Microsoft but rather some limitations on distribution, which I suspect is policy to protect the integrity of the the Live service rather than some draconian policy. By that I mean: if DLC is free, it will be downloaded many many more times than paid DLC, which means that free DLC will cause more strain on Microsoft's servers.
I also suspect that developers CAN release multiple free DLC but beyond the first there might be a large cost to do so, which developers probably don't want to front - particularly if they aren't getting paid for it. One example of this would be the recent Mass Effect 3 DLC. They have released 2 multi-player DLC packs and also the Extended Cut ending DLC - all free.

Retired StaffI'm guessing you don't have very much DLC for any game you own.

Exactly why I want her for president. Nuff said. I'll make banners, campaign ads and all that stuff if I have to.

Stop being cheap. If you have the money to buy games and own a computer and such you have money for stuff you want.
