Actually, making one skin takes 5 - 10 mins if you have a good concept of what you want, and 4J are meant to be professional, so they could easily allocate a time to make 100 - 200 skins and release them all at once in one package. I dislike dlc as well, but because Microsoft is incredibly out of touch with their community (im an xbox gamer, i'd know) we'll never have a stage when we can design our own skins and render dlc useless.
I agree with most of this. I guess in my mind though it would be more important to fix this: then to come out with a ton of skins when they've done a good job so far at giving us skin options. An exploit like this could break/ruin the game for many people.
It isnt even 4J Studios fault that they have to charge because of Xbox. I don't see why people should criticize them about it either I mean all they're doing is selling a mod THEY made I mean come on they deserve money for sitting for hours at a desk coding and testing it. Mods on PC are mostly made third party so 4J has no connection with them if 4J wanted to charge for Xbox mods they would already be charging on PC.
UGH, I've explained this exact thing a million times already.
Mods on PC are ONLY free because it is COMPLETELY ILLEGAL to sell them. Mojang did not release rights to their game to those mod creators, so they have no rights to sell anything made that uses that property. 4J DOES have rights to create and sell things for minecraft. Thats a good thing, because it means any content created can be professionally done. Most mods on PC have a ****-slew of issues they create. Many of them can't even be used together without breaking your game into tiny little bits. Everything 4J develops for the 360 will end up working infinitely better because it will be designed to work with everything else they make.
In the end, this stuff takes a ton of work. I assure you that, if the PC mod community were allowed to legally sell their ****, you'd see a price tag on every mod ever created. Instead, they have to rely on donations, and I think you'll notice most of them have such a feature on their sites. Clearly, we all wanna get paid for our work. They just can't do it directly. Or you can bet your tail they absolutely would.
I would not mind paying for these so much if they were of higher quality. I have no want whatsoever to PAY for a skin I will NEVER see except in 3rd person or in my inventory, and when I do see it it is a vague resemblance to a character for another game.
I would gladly pay another £16 as a DLC so I could use a custom skin and use custom texture packs. I do not want to pay £2.69 for a pack that only looks good from far away (really bad) that can only be used for Sci-fi building (Mass Effect 3 mashup)
