Made a 16 x 48 long room, found my first slime! Been sitting here for 3 hours, clearing out caves, normal mining with nothing coming since. I was so optimistic that I had a decent supply of slimes
Slimes don't spawn in big bunches for me either, I mean I saw two big slimes, but those were at different times. I mean at least they drop slime balls.
I just came here to say that I finally found some slimes. One big sized and a medium one. And I found them using the tool provided in this topic, so, to anyone saying it doesn't work, just be patient. I spent the last three hours waiting, haha. I had a 16 X 32 room, and I was working on the second floor above it, when I heard the splash sounds. Good luck to ya!

Whats your return on slimeballs? Mines 1 every 4 hours so far
Mines a stack + everytime I visit my room (dont go that often because too many) and thats only 16x32 room. Converting it with pistons now, seeing if they have enough time to travel to surface without despawning. Will post guide if all goes well and when I get back home from inlaws.
Thanks to this thread I got a great slime farm. My room is a 30x30 and i made a 30 block long tunnel in one of the walls so that i can mine while i wait. Ive gotten a little over 64 slime balls in 20 minutes.
to anyone having trouble, it seems like caves are the biggest problem. if you're room just won't spawn slimes there is probably a big cave system nearby that is screwing you up. i just kept trying different chunks until i got one to work on my 7th try lol.
I also get a stack and a half. But if you do not keep up with harvesting prepare for frame rate drop.
If you end up using a mobavator, and breaking the slimes down to 1x1 I suggest making an alarm system. Pressure plate, rslatch, light and music block. This way they don't build up too much, or flood them if your your busy.

My slime farm is 16x16, 3 blocks high, and 2 stories. The first story is at bedrock. Also, my slime farm is like 25 blocks or so away from the main area of my base where I spend most of my time, that's probably why they spawn so much.

Ok, this is how I understand it. Move your mouse over one of the green things(=chunks), read the coords of it, then go to Y=16 or below, and then dig out the blocks so you can move, and remove the top block so giant slimes can spawn.
If the coords on the chunk say " 16, 32" go to "16, 31"

How do you get so many?! Would you be willing to help me out on my farm? I have increased the size of the room and I do notice more spawning but still not as many as I would have thought I almost completed a full stack of slimeballs. Would really appreciate the help I can do all the work I just need a few "poiners" and I think it would be "best" if you took a look at my mine, please!
