Does seem odd that not any or a few would spawn with that amount of chunks. The only thing I can think of is caves in the opposite direction of your waiting area but you should still get the odd slime here and there, mind telling me your seed and where your 5 chunks are ill jump on and have a look around and see if I have any luck with it.
I've two waiting areas on opposite sides and have spent time listening for mobs. The once or twice I've heard something I've gone up a layer or two from the ceiling and dug to those co-ordinates and lit up the pocket or cave the sounds are originating in.
I've double checked the seed number a couple of times and checked the co-ordinates about 10 times to make sure I was in the right place. It's just so weird that I'm not swimming in slimes by now.

As of the current Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition version, Slimes only spawn below layer 16. This will be in effect in till the Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition version gets updated to or above the Beta 1.9 Pre-release 5

Yes, that is the seed number that shows when I load my world. I've reloaded the finder extension and re-entered the seed number and the x, z co-ordinates I wrote down are what shows up in the upper left corner. Did you come up with something different?

Yeah, I've done a major cave crawl and dug into different parts of the same cave a couple of times. I've, also, run into 4-5 pockets that aren't attached to any caves. What do you think, should I just scratch these chunks and go somewhere else?

Have you made a base or settlement near your slime chunks? I wouldnt move, I didnt dig out the slime chunks to see if any would spawn wouldve taken awhile to do.

On this map I don't really have a central base of operations. I'm going from place to place working on projects. The area close to the slime pit will be built up a little bit but I don't know if I will expand on this map as much as I did on the other one.
And, yes, digging out the chunks, exploring the immediate area and building a storage/work area were all a decent time sink. I'm invested in a project that will dress up and cover the stairway going down at the moment. Admittedly, it's an attempt to salvage a build that didn't go quiet as I envisioned but will make an interesting something to look at later.

I found out what the problem was. Minecraft, apparently, has positive and negative map numbers. I was reading the number as Seed- xxxxxxxxxxxxx when it really read, Seed: -xxxxxxxxxxxxx. I had already (by chance) dug out a chunk that was the same but it wasn't producing slimes. I waited around for hours with no results. I dug out another chunk that wasn't too far away and pulled out a stack in no time. Since then I dug out three other chunks in the area but the one is still producing slimes every time. The others are sporadic at best.

Yes, and no. The number was correct I just didn't have the - in front of it. The : on my large screen TV got lost until I got up closer to it and re-checked the map number (for the 10th time). I have an appointment with the eye doctor in a week.

i have bad luck trying to find slimes searched tons onf caves and some with more caves in then few that grew into 7-10 different caves but no luck starting to think mite not be any one my world lol
crap there is glass everywhere in my slime thing, that is why its not working. I now feel retarded. Its realy big too its 4 slime chunks in an L shape, but i made it a square.
There will definitely be slime on your map.
If you can see your world seed number when choosing your map to load you can enter the seed number including any -symbols in front of the numbers.
Use the guide to associate the slime map with co ordinates on ur minecraft map and it will show you all the 16x16 slime chunks are.
Remember they only spawn below layer 16 and if you are 24+ blocks away so you need to open up a space in the chunk that the slimes can spawn in. 16x16x3 high will be grand. Then get urself 24 blocks away and wait.
I wait on hard then switch to peaceful to investigate as the slimes will stay.
Hope that helps and if the slime app confuses you then post your exact world seed number and the co ords of the area of your map you roughly want to farm. Ill post the co ords of your nearest good slime chunk
Hope that helps
Newt

Thats the 3 next to each other, the one off the side is x - 176 to x -160, z -128 to z -112
Remember to be below layer 16 by looking at your Y coord
