@FayedNZ - in around a distributed 4-6 hours of gameplay, I was able to collect 20 slime balls. So it works - maybe not to the level I expected but I now have enough for making sticky pistons to do my blaze farm in the nether. So thanks a ton
I've heard that the chunks in Xbox Edition are actually 14x14 instead of 16x16, can anyone confirm that?
If so you should adjust the numbers in the guide accordingly.
Also, this may seem fairly obvious, but im big on confirming things, but how.accurate is the spawner location tool? Is its word rule? Meaning, I found 3 spawn sites all adjacent to eachother, and dug them all out. I have a pretty big room, but i want to continue. Once i dig one row outside of the tools given spawning locations, am i completely wasting my time? Will there be a guarenteed 0 spawn rate 100‰ of the time? I suppose i could go up or down a level or two and start again, but there is something much more enticing about expanding my room. Think i ended up with about 50 slimeballs last night. And i dont have a farm or anything, that was from just hanging around or popping in and out looking for spawns. Works for me as i habent even ever made a sticky piston before
I'm pretty sure the tool is 100% accurate, I can't see any way it would be possible to even make a tool like that without it being 100% accurate.
So yes, any additional rows will be a waste of time.
Precisely what i was thinking. Bummer, the prospect of having an enourmous, square open room seemed cool. But aready on my 2nd location down the y-axis a few.

@maxwalker360 - once again I am not sure about my PC 1.3.1 version vs xbox but in the abandoned mine shafts you have a lot of chests - in mine I found 6. They are generally filled with goodies - in fact, getting melon seeds (for water melon) is only possible via the chests - you cannot get those seeds anywhere else 9 (afaik). Pumpkins can be found growing on the field from which we can get seeds. However I did not find them anywhere - so I was glad to get some pumpkin seeds via the chest (I got 4 diamonds too via the chest !!! ):)

@maxwalker360 - if you are referring to this thread, then yes, I did realize after FayedNZ told me but the principles are pretty much similar except for the glow stone opaqueness property and the slime spawning y coordinate. So this thread helped me for whatever I had in mind.
As for other things - I have clearly answered your question from what I know as far as the PC version goes. If you asked it as an xbox specific question the ignore my answer. I dont know whats relevant for you
Whats with the spoiler tags for pics? I dont mean just here, but in general on these forums. I think i saw someone get genuinely upset becase another poster disnt spoiler tag his pictures. These are pics of custom builds, so what am i missing? Why is it seem to be common courtesy to hide pics of your personal custom build? It makes sense for movie points, but i feel as if im missing a piece of the puzzle here. Or are people just that big of stress cases that they actually freak out over this? AMA Request: Someone who freaked out over seing a non spoiler tagged picture or someones custom built fake thing.

I've done everything the guide says but no slimes yet
Double checked you're in a slime chunk, caves are annoying they could be anywhere even by your waiting room or past your waiting room in opposite direction of your slime farm
Okay Fayzed I need the advice of the slime guru. I've successfully made a slime pit on another map using your guide and it worked perfectly. I recently started up another map and went after slimes. I used the slime finder extension and found five chunks in a cluster. Thinking this was the best way to increase the odds I went to work and dug to bedrock, removed a lava pool, and dug 4 of the five out. I've got it lit up with few torches actually on the ground and have lit up everything else in the area. Meaning, I dug up the stairs every other one for about 50 blocks in both directions and 40 layers up looking for caves and pockets. I've stood there for over an hour of real time and nothing spawned. However, I was three blocks above the pit mining out some coal and went down to get another pickaxe and saw slimeballs sitting on the floor. I thought this was promising but haven't seen another sign of slimes since. I'm going to day three with this problem and it's getting rather depressing.
There is an awful lot of lava surrounding the pit and I'm starting to wonder if that isn't part of the problem. What do you say Fayzed, any ideas?

Does seem odd that not any or a few would spawn with that amount of chunks. The only thing I can think of is caves in the opposite direction of your waiting area but you should still get the odd slime here and there, mind telling me your seed and where your 5 chunks are ill jump on and have a look around and see if I have any luck with it.

I've seen 3 large and 2 medium once.
There is an awful lot of lava surrounding the pit and I'm starting to wonder if that isn't part of the problem. What do you say Fayzed, any ideas?
