I'm curious if anyone has created a vertical Slime Farm. I've seen many people here post pictures of their Slime farms and most consist of one large room to harvest Slimeballs in.
I'm in the process of building a vertical Slime Farm which will enable me to harvest Slimes on four 16x16 pads giving me 1,024 block spawning area - on levels 4-6, 8-10, 12-14, and 16-18 (since they spawn on layer 16 and below currently). I will then transport them to the surface via water channels and ladders so I won't have a need to travel deep in order to get my slimeballs. My current slime farm is being built along the idea of what Etho presented in his SMP world as seen here:
That's hard to do since it's hard to find 4 square chunks altogether, otherwise it would be pointless to have four 16x16 pads when only 1 of them work.
I'm mining out a few Slime chunks & I've come across a minor problem?
The slime finder tool says -64,-96 to -48,-80.
In the first picture below I am standing at X: -48, Y: 5, Z: -80.
Count the torches from dirt block to dirt block. 17, right?

Isn't it suppose to be a chunk 16x16?
64-48=16
96-80=16.
Why is mine 17x17? I'm I doing something wrong, or did I not get enough sleep last night? I want it 16x16 so it's all hunky-dory. How do I fix this so It's the correct 16x16? Does this post even make sense?
The tool says your on the chunk. Are you standing in/around the chunk, or are you some distance away? I would suggest moving 25 blocks or more away from the chunk & wait for 10 minutes.
Yes I'm far from it and I waited more then 10 mins.

I don't think you're following me. I'm talking about multiple spawn pads or levels within one chunk - much like a mob tower.
Well like I said its been done, and its mentioned in my first post near the bottom about multiple levels to increase slime spawns
I wasn't referring to you, kind sir. I realize I'm not reinventing the wheel here, but I noticed the people posting were only using a large cleared out room for their Slime Farm.
Finding slimes and spawning slimes are two different things and has already been discussed in the thread.
Slime do not "spawn" in peaceful, you can find it though.

Yes I did see it but I still did not understand the slime chunk finder
There's not much to say if you still don't get it by now. What exactly are you having trouble with, the coordinates in the app or finding the coordinates in the map?

There's not much to say if you still don't get it by now. What exactly are you having trouble with, the coordinates in the app or finding the coordinates in the map?
