You can either use a app on the interwebz called Slimefinder or you could dig a 5*4 room in every chunk in a kinda big area and then walk away for a while, when you come back check if some slimes spawn in any of the rooms, remember to close the doors so no small slimes can walk in the corridors between the rooms.
When you got the slime chunk find the border ... the border is where the coordinates is possible to devide by 16 ...
When you got the chunk outlined, go to y:36 (coords) and dig out the entire thing with 3 blocks high. Go down and do the same (keep the floor though) for as many layers as you want.
Go to the top and start digging out a 3 wide cannal around the outside of the chunk. all the way down to 1 block lower than the lowest spawning platform you got.
Make a water stream at the bottom going all the way around (if you dont know how to do that; you just place water in the far end corner from where you want the drops, then place a water block there. Find out where the water stops and dig down and 3 blocks forward (3*3 box) Place stairs on the end and signs in the middle one block up. leave the last block open (remember that the water need to flow down into the box) Place water on the stairs so the water stream continues ... Do this all the way around so all slimes come to the same corner.
Make em go the way you want the drops to be, make a lava blade so the biggest and medium slimes die and let the small ones go under.
Small slimes can climb ladder so make them climb up to your base/room you want slimes in and let them fall in a 1*1 block tube. Kill them however you want. Lava, pistons, swords, fall damage, potions I dunno, your choice =P (remember, drop them onto a halfslab so they can't get out =P)
k people i have a giant slime farm 4 blocks above bedrock its up and working what you want to do is use a slime finder then place torches every where around it light up any caves arould and at the surface light up a 255 radius around your farm
i got lucky with these chunks this is just one side of my farm i didnt take a pic of the other side...its 39x69 i could go bigger but it takes too much time..
Do you really feel the need to post your screens in every single thread about slimes? I would've thought the slime screenshot thread wouldve been enough, clearly not. You forgot some threads on about page 3-4 theres some there you can bring back..
Every time I come onto the forums I see a new topic about slimes regarding the same questions that have previously been answered not more than hours before. So here is the topic I am starting
Slimes the mob info
They come in 3 sizes.
Small - 0.6 block size
Medium - 1.2 block size
Large - 2.4 block size
The Small Slimes have a 0-2 drop of slimeballs.
Although we cannot do anything with these now, the main reason they're used for are sticky pistons. Which will be avaliable to make in the next update 1.7.3 in July (provided they're on time)
Slimes will move towards a player if they're within 16 blocks of them without line of sight, if you are not within range of them then they will just hop in a straight line from the last direction they were facing.
The bigger slimes will break into smaller slimes provided they are not overkilled. It's best to hit the bigger slimes (large/medium) with anything other thans tools or swords etc. People say they find it better to use Arrows to split them down, you can punch them hit them with blocks and not worry about overkilling them.
The small slimes do not damage you, they can get annoying though cause they tend to push you. The other sizes do damage to you.
Slime spawning
Slimes spawn in specific chunks (known to everyone as slime chunks) that are randomly generated with the worlds seed on layers 16 and below. (for our current xbox version)
They will spawn in any light levels and have the same rules as other aggressive mobs where they will not spawn if you are within 24 blocks.
Because slimes will spawn in any light level we can increase slimes spawning by lighting up everything this includes all caves that may be near by. This will reduce chances of other mobs spawning so more slimes may spawn.
A chunk is 16x16, if when you created your world you used a seed, you can use various tools to find out where your slime chunks would be http://extension.ws/...aft/slimes.html is one of those sites with a tool. You enter your world seed into the box at top left. Click the update map and it will show where they are. You can move to specific co-ordinates with the provided fields to enter them in. If you mouse over a chunk it will give you the co-ordinates of where that chunk is. The 'X' co-ord is your east/west, the 'Z' co-ord is your north/south and your 'Y' co-ord is your Altitude.
Edit: Info added by RandomFires
1. The co-ord's are the edge of the chunk, not center.
2. If your going to use the slime finder, choose a spot with more then one slime chunk next to each other to increase your chances.
And Slime do not despawn. Spotting slime in normal mode, saving and loading up peaceful, the slime will still be there.
************
Knowing these things we can locate where slime chunks are on our worlds using our map that has co-ords at the top of it.
For people who didnt enter a seed and just used a randomly generated seed. In regards to finding what seed you used I will not write about how to find out as it requires extracting save data
So if you didnt use a seed, dont want to use the above method then the only other option is trial and error. (alot of digging). We know slimes spawn in any light levels, below layer 16 and in specific chunks.
You're gonna have to travel down with some pickaxes and get to mining out big rooms, or little rooms. The bigger they are the more chances you have of finding them. Just mine out some big areas, light them up travel away 24 + blocks (maybe to another room you're digging out) wait awhile then head back to see if any slimes are there. This method can take awhile, but you dont have much other choices.
Apparently Slimes can spawn on peaceful in the xbox version I cannot confirm this though, I know they dont despawn if difficulty settings are changed to peaceful from another mode while they are already spawned like other aggressive mobs. Some other people say only the small slimes spawn on peaceful because they aren't an aggressive mob. I dont think this is true cause essentially they're 1 mob just different sizes
Slime farms
I wont go into to much about slime farms, there are numerous ones around.
Firstly you would want some kind of spawning pads. (keep in mind that they spawn below layer 16, so we can make multiple floors of pads to further increase slime spawns)
On the sides of your pads you would more than liekly have canals or channels pushing them to one point for easy kill. In all the slime farms ive built, I have them pushed into a 3x3 square with the top 2 levels filled with water to down the bigger ones, I have a channel on the bottom of that 3x3 square pushing another direction so they get drowned into small slimes, the small slimes get pushed into a 1 high room which leads to a killing area. On the PC I have a similar version using flood gates to flush the slimes off the pads into the canals, except by the drowner I have ladders for the small slimes to climb back up to the surface. I havent had much luck with this on xbox though (still testing)
Small slimes will climb up ladders 15 blocks tall, we can use this to make them travel to certain places.
That's about all I have to say about them really, please feel free to add any info you can
This guy did in amazing job I learned so much about slimes so why did you make a post when you could have scrolled down to the second page and read this plus their is a lot more slime posts. More and more people wondering about slime is getting anoying read other posts or you could look it up online. THANKYOU FazedNZ for making this slime post keep up the good work!
