I figured out how to get rid of the minecraft addiction.
First of all, play 16 hours a day for the first 3 weeks after the game is released.
That's step one - burnout.
Then, join a persistent multiplayer world, spend a week adding value to the community, building a house in the town and adding all sorts of helpful things to the world.
Finally, wait for a squeaky-voiced punk griefer to come in a destroy all your week's worth of work in 2 minutes with some TNT. Maybe the owner of the world has a backup, maybe they don't. If they don't have a backup... your addiction will fade very fast. Trust me on this one.
Your fault. There is multiple anti-griefing measures in place. Anybody who doesn't use them is well... stupid.
For me, the graphics are pleasing because they make me feel nostalgic. It reminds me of a simpler time, when all games were that pixelated. Yet, even though the look is so simplistic, the gameplay is boundlessly deep.
My opinion on why people, or atleast me, don't mind the default graphics is that it opens amazing potential.
Texture packs are great, fun ways to put your own feel on minecraft, but if they were as hard to texture as today's games, nobody would spend the time making them.
And the default-nostalgia argument makes good sense too.
Well i have a friend that always makes fun of minecraft, he always says it has the worst graphics and theres no point in it, then i got him to play 5-Minutes of minecraft and told him dont complain about anything, next day he says "Im craving minecraft T_T" then next thing you know he plays more than me!, Well i thought this game has really bad graphics at first to but for some reason it dosent look low graphic anymore, i think what makes minecraft addicting is you can build anything you want anytime, without it being like Sims and having to place computers tvs and all that high tech stuff

Welcome Johnny; one day at a time.
