Is it possible that slimes can spawn anywhere like zombie, skeletons, creepers, and other mobs do? rather than a large bedrock room? Or is 4j going to put an update where that's gonna happen?
I never knew this. I am fairly new to minecraft. I can only make 8 more posts today until i get 10 approved so I can only continue for a short while. What do you do with slime chunks anyways?

Slime chunks are basically areas were slime are going to spawn at that slime chunk so if you can find a good amount of slime chunks like i did youll be able to see were they spawn :F

I could be wrong, but I believe slime balls are used for sticky pistons which will be released in the july update
you were right about that but you mistook the slime chunks as slime. Slime spawn in the slime chunks. Thus meaning that slime chunks spawn slime which drop slime balls when killed with fist or bow.Witch is used to make sticky pistons...

I would like to see these slime chunks, seeing how I have never seen one in minecraft. My gamertag is Blitz1999. i will be on the 360 version 3 days from now.
Slimes are found at levels 1-16, a lot of light helps them spawn. However, they do not spawn everywhere like regular monsters, only in certain chunks. There is website for finding which chunks they may spawn in.
Slimes are in the XBOX version, but they do not have a use at this point. In PC, they are used to create sticky pistons, which can basically move a block back and fourth when hooked up to redstone. Once the XBOX version is updated to at least 1.7 you should be able to make sticky pistons.

Well you cant see slime chunks their invisible so you just gotta get lucky when you find slime you will know you have a slime chunks so i suggest trying to do a room like mine. You would probably be able to find a good amount of slime chunks like me you will be able to get a good amount of slime balls.

A usefull mod for slimeballs would be to allow placement of slimeballs on the ground to make a sticky block in order to cause monsters to walk over and get stuck on the block making for an effective trap.

well that would be cool but then what would be the point of soul sand.. it automatically slows down everything once it is walked on. So yea :F you only get soul sand through the nether.

I know. The soul sand has many other uses and the sticky trap would be for an easy way of trapping enemies. and leading to this trap is a field of soul sand with a small pathway allowing the player to get on the other side of the trap. and on the other side the players would make a village or house and make this trap on all four sides of the village or giant house. up till now this map that i created lacks that sticky part so i had to settle for a wall. and it looks quite amazing.

You'll also be able to use slime balls to make magma cream, which then can be used in potions to provide different effects in an upcoming update.
