If you find one single piece of cacti you can grow more from that. Place it in sand and as it grows chop piece off and plant them. Repeat for more cacti.
If there is Zero in your world. Start a new world... if you must have cacti.
50 diamonds.... I see your dilemma. I was about to ask the same about Pumpkins. At some point you will need to start a new world anyway. Maybe in July with the pistons Update????
I had this problem as well until I activated my Nether Reactor Core. Cactus spawned around it as well as other items, such as pumpkin seeds and sugercane. I was able to collect 17 cactus. Hope this helps.

First of all, you should really read the dates before posting. Sceondly, this section is for the Xbox 360 Edition; not Pocket Edition.
- Creative mode...Get 3 cactus and start growing.
- New world.
Now If you really don't wanna start over nor goto creative then "Cheat"
Use a Inventory Editor and put enough cactus to grow off of...I still don't find cactus very useful.
im pretty sure there is a block damage value changer ( or something along those lines ) that you can build to change something into cactus, I may be wrong though.
with a hoe or something?????

if your on xbox one you can extend your world but if your on 360 you can find it in dungeons and underground chests
