This suddenly donged on me one day. All hoes take one click of a button to plow the ground. So why make a golden hoe that brakes fast when you can get the same job done with a wooden, stone, iron etc.

Do golden hoes create a higher chance to drop seeds? I've never heard of that before. Interesting.
Later, when you can enchant, the gold material will give you better enchantments on tools. I've never actually enchanted a gardening tool before, though.
LOL This made me think of that "Diamonds Are Forever" video from CorridorDigital. "How many times do I have to tell you, don't waste your diamonds on a hoe"
On Topic, I don't use gold for anything other than powerrails and one clock. It's not worth wasting any gold on tools or armor until later on with enchantments.
I never got into the potions, I don't know why but I was just set in my ways with using food and waiting to heal, and I would enchant armor hoping to get Fire protection
I think gold has the quickest time for use like gold axe will chop tree faster then other axes but doesn't last long. Better just to have diamond tools anyways and save gold for powered rails.

I like grenades potions. You can walk through the lava of the Nether for the sheer... Nether of it?
You can also use them as grenades. Did I mention the grenades part? Grenades + Dispenser = Minecraft RPG. Fill it with healing potions and fire it into a zombie trap.

That's all very true, except you don't save time with a golden hoe. All tools convert dirt into farm land at the same speed (one click). You can't till grass for seeds anymore.
