I'm launching a new website in a few days called "mcxphotos.com" (Minecraft Xbox Photos) and I would like for some testing to be done.
The website is quite simple, as the name suggest it's a website for sharing and viewing Minecraft Xbox Photos.
If you login with your Facebook it will automatically import all your Minecraft screenshots that you have uploaded from your Xbox to your Facebook account. Then from the website you can give your images titles and descriptions, create galleries and share the images and galleries with your friends.
The site will also feature a section where we "spotlight" the best galleries and photos that people have uploaded of their creations and discoveries. The site is just a small project I've been working on in my spare time.
If you'd like to help me test the site please do the following:
If you want to upload your photos
1. Make sure that you have uploaded photos from your xbox to your Facebook account. There is a guide in game on how to do this if you don't know.
2. On the homepage of the website click "Login with your Facebook account" and authorise the website to access your Facebook photos.
3. Wait for the process to complete
4. Create galleries, manage your photos and give me feedback on the process
If you just want to browse
1. Go to the website and click "Skip sharing, browse photos" and then give me feedback on how you find the process of browsing. At the time of posting there aren't many photos so there isn't much to look at, but hopefully soon there will be more
Let me know how it goes, all feedback and bugs are very much appreciated. What do you like about the site? What don't you like about the site? What do you think the site should have that it doesn't?
I like it. However, will we eventually be able to sign/login to the website WITHOUT using our Facebook? I'll use my Facebook if needed, but will there be an alternate way (just for browsing/commenting on photos, not necessarily posting photos)?
Awesome site. I have only had one issue. When I went to edit account, I got a 404 page with an "Uh Oh 404" on it.
Ah yes, I need to add that page. For now all you can do is change your name so I didn't think it was a big priority to get that page up. I'll sort it now.

Posting comments is handled with the Facebook comments box, you can post comments using your Facebook account (if you're logged into Facebook anywhere) or with an email address (if you're not logged in to Facebook). I chose to make the site Facebook login only as the only way to upload photos from your Xbox is with Facebook and because the only things you can do with login are upload photos it seemed the sensible decision.
I may in the future add favouriting and things like that, if I do add that I'll add accounts that aren't controlled by Facebook, but for the foreseeable future it will be Facebook only.

Ah ok. That was the only issue I had though. I've already made some galleries and organized my pictures and whatnot. It's very fast and easy to use. I didn't get lost or misunderstand anything at all.
i'm liking the site and have already posted my own images (my single player village and the stargate deadalus) also there was 1 issue is when i click import new photos i get an error page which says no permission
The deadalus looks amazing, really good work. I've made it the "featured photo" for now, you can see it at the top of this page: http://mcxphotos.com/browse/photos
I will try and find out why you got that error, I think I know why. Will fix it in a moment.

That's great, I tried to make it as straightforward as possible so that people wouldn't need to read lots of help documentation, glad to know that I succeeded!
Thanks to everyone who has uploaded photos so far! There was a bug with the browse page but I fixed it now.

Alright, sounds good! Also, something I've noticed while browsing in the Squids gallery: Whenever I click the middle photo's image, I get a "uh oh, 404!" error. The same situation occurs if I'm on the photo before or after it, and click the arrow to go to said photo. However, if I click the photo's image link (Screenshot from in-game), I see the picture fine. Another thing, sometimes the arrow you use to go to the next or previous photo is under the current photo, rather to the side of it.

Thanks for finding that. The problem was that the URLs had been edited for the image (eg: citricsquid/squids became citricsquid/squids2) but the system didn't update the gallery URLs to be the new URL (eg: citricsquid/gallery/squids2).
I've fixed that now; I'm manually fixing the few broken ones and all newly edited URLs should work fine.

Np, nice to see that it's been fixed.
I've got another "bug"/issue to report, not sure if I'm doing anything wrong or what. I tried logging in using my Facebook PAGE, and currently I'm frozen in the "Welcome" page with the status circling endlessly. I left the page and went back on the website's home. It said I was logged in, however, I have/had no access of importing photos, editing my account, and everything really (kept getting the 404 error). Also, when I went to the "My Photos" section, it says view them by going to your profile which was: an extremely long number (I don't want to post it publicly, as I'm not sure what it is) /photos. Whenever I clicked on it, it popped up the 404 error message again. So I'm assuming my account is still non-existent? It could be because I haven't uploaded any Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition photos to my Facebook page yet, but I'm not sure. Whenever I try to relog, it just stays on the "Welcome" page forever, with the "Photo import process is initializing".
EDIT/UPDATE: Now that I've added/uploaded a picture, I was able to successfully log in and my image was posted, BUT I still can't "Edit Account" and it says my account name is (link to my profile): http://mcxphotos.com/100004044068358
I'm almost certain I'm having these issues because I logged in with a Facebook Page.
Nice site... Is this pinned? because it should be. The site looks great and very organized in a "pro" sense!!
I will try out the program soon and report any bugs found.
Edit: Should be pinned when out of testing though.

Yes, the problem is that you logged in with a facebook page which doesn't have the information needed to make the site work. I've updated the site to have a fallback for people who do that, but people probably shouldn't be doing that heh. The number 100004044068358 is your Facebook account ID.
For now the account settings page doesn't exist so that's why you're having a problem there, I'll be deploying that page today.
i can now access the import photos section now, although i tried doing the import new photos and this was the end result
i'm assuming that the error symbol appeared next to the word status becuase there are no new images to be imported, although it did say that a button to procceed should have appeared.
I think I know what problem that is, I will fix that now. Thanks!

Thank you very much If users here like the site then I will pin it.
Just got to tinker with it and it is working very well. I seemed to have ran into something that seems like a small problem.
When editing captions and then saving it should have a conformation page or something saying they have been changed successfully. It is not a huge problem, but a visual aid of some sort would help the "OMG the internet just died on me" feeling of wait (although you can see the title change, but it is very subtle.
Also in response to your initial reply... I think the community would enjoy and benefit from this site because it is currently the only thing outside of MCX360 that is available to the public. It is very tidy and fast with easy to maneuver tabs. It is also great because you can "mass" view pictures of great builds alongside their context without having to rummage through forums not meant for photo share.
To everyone else... Try this out and you will not waste your time. I want to see your builds and there are some great ones already. So when your done starring at the deadalus go ahead and check out my lake house and creeper mountain!

Definitely, it's on my list of things to add, I just haven't decided what the best way to display this is. I want a universal (site wide) standard for alerts on something that just happened. I'm thinking just a green bar at the top but I haven't decided yet.

This is really great work. A better organized way to see everyone's screenshot is much needed.
I don't particularly like Facebook but unfortunately that is the only way to use the screenshot feature. I also steer clear of logging into third party websites as a general rule of thumb. It's too bad is has to be that way. I know you can always create a fake account to circumvent these concerns but that is against Facebook policy.
I would imagine a sticky would be warranted for this even though people like myself might not use it.
There is a guide on the xbox. If you press start (pause) while playing (or via the menu) then select "Help & Options" (second option) then "How to play" then scroll down to "Sharing Screenshots" it will explain how to do it!

Yeah, it's unfortunate that there is no other method but I'm not sure how else they could implement it. At least you can still browse the site, and thanks for the kind words
I also nearly posted to say that the welcome page was stuck as it took a couple of minutes, perhaps a little note for impatient people like me saying 'Please be patient this may take some time.'
Yeah if you have a lot of photos it can take a while. I'll add a note stating that people can return to browsing the website while it runs, you don't have to remain on that page.
I had started a new gallery, dragged 4 photos into it then clicked the big green button to save. It greyed out and highlighted the button but nothing more seemed to happen for quite a while. I decided to refresh the page to try again, when I did so the photos were there, I can't entirely remember if I clicked the button again and it instantly finished, but I believe I went to my profile to see if it had worked and it was there.
Hm. It's possible the process broke, I'll check into it.
Also I added this edit onto the end of my post, just a few simple additions I thought might be nice;
An on site like button would also be good, personally I'm not that big on spamming my facebook with Minecraft related things. Perhaps even on site comments for photos would be great!
One of my older mockups had a site-specific like system (under the photo in this: http://i.imgur.com/yk9MI.png) but I decided against it because I wanted people to be able to use all the site features (besides sharing) without logging in.
I could add site specific likes and comments, I'll add it to my list of stuff to add in the next version. An advantage of having site specific comments would be the ability for me to have "notifications", so if someone comments on your photo then it sends you a notification about the comment.

Not sure what could have caused that. Do you mean saving the meta data (eg: title, description) or saving the photos in the gallery?
My pleasure :3 Thanks for the feedback!
