Just a few quick questions regarding mob spawning parameters. First of all, is the max mob count the same as the pc version or is it toned down a little? Also the 128 block spawning radius, the same or smaller for the xbox?
My biggest question has to do with the max amount of mob drops (items) the xbox version allows to exist at once? I ask this because I have built a mob grinder that is producing somewhere between 40000-60000 items per hour but I am only able to collect about 20000 per hour because at least 50% is disappearing before my eyes after only traveling for about 15 seconds in the loot chute.
Those are all very good questions that I don't think anyone has come up with answers to.
PC version is something like....
128 block spawn radius (despawn outside of this range)
80 within the range of a player and the mobs move - outside and they stay still (I think?)
24 block safety zone (no spawning within 24 blocks of player)
80 mob spawn cap
5 minutes before a drop disappears (I think?)
The 128/80/24 seems the same on Xbox, although I get some weird numbers on spawners where it sways between 10 and 2,000 drops per hour for what seems like no reason....?
There's no way the 5 minute rule is the same - I also watch drops disappear pretty rapidly.
My mob grinder now forces the stuff I drop when I die to despawn so quick there is absolutely no way you can pick it up again unless I die right next to my bed. Pretty funny.
how the hell do you make a mob grinder that is that efficient? i get like 200 per hour.... with 8 floors.....
Killing the mobs quickly allows them to respawn quickly. Basically a lava blade for every spawning pad. I've built a couple with mcedit because, as the op stated, you don't really build these for the loot. You build one to find the absolute most efficient way to get said loot.
I'm using a gravity kill device (fences with water on top) 26 blocks above the kill floor I have about 150 spawn floors each consisting of a two wide by 25 long row of blocks with open trapdoors lining every floor. I used about 5000 trap doors to build it (I understand that signs are a better option as they have no hitbox, but that many signs would kill the framerate), it goes from bedrock to max ceiling height.
Basically the idea of the machine is to spawn enemies and have them die within 2 - 3 seconds. They spawn, take 1 or 2 steps and fall to their death. The idea being that by the time I grab the loot, the mob that dropped said loot has already respawned and died a couple of times over. I can fill a double chest in about 5 minutes at the moment even with so much loot despawning before I get it.
Sorry for the revive, but I'd love to know the answer to this too, especially in multiplayer. I have a much smaller mob farm that works well in a personal world of mine, but when I play in a world on a dedicated Xbox with others, a similar setup produces much, much less.

Any insight anyone?

This thread bores me.
