The bug where you can't damage mobs if they're in tall grass or slightly around a corner, basically if you can't see the entire mob, you can't hurt it, but it turns red as if it's being hurt.
I was even told by 4JSteve, personally, that it was being fixed. IMO, aside from the game-crashing and save-corrupting bugs, this was the most problematic one. I just don't understand how they missed this for the BUG update. Did anyone else notice this wasn't fixed?
Ya I noticed it too...basically if the mob can't hit you, you can't hit it. It can be very frustrating trying to get in the right position to kill a zombie in a cave, meanwhile 3 creepers have spawned and are now down with the zombie...not fun.

Or maybe because sometimes a bug is a bit harder to fix than checking the "this feature works" box.
A glitch in the game can be cause by anything, from the smallest typo in the code, to an unintended influence on something from the way something ELSE is coded. If they'd had a way to fix this during the bug patch, it would have been released sooner rather than later.
Ok, so you're saying they had more serious matters yet they added other new features?
Surely they could've not added any of them features and fixed the killing of mob's etc, that IMO is a very serious matter, if you can't kill a mob then you have a problem. Yes it's only at certain areas you can't kill them but still it's a serious problem because it affects gameplay.
those features were already planned / in developement, work doesn't stop on new features to focus 100% on bug removal unless the bug in question is a game crasher. It's a minor inconvenience at best to have to have a mob follow you for a bit, and for all you know, they've been working on a bug fix the whole time and just haven't found a wa to fix it yet. Like i said, they've known about this issue for a while, and if they'd had a fix for it, it would have come sooner rather than later.
I can understand the frustration, but I've worked on the programming end of the business. Sometimes what seems to be an insanely easy thing to fix, may be very difficult to actually correct.
They may be all to aware of a bug -- probably knew about it before us -- but have to narrow down what precisely is causing it -- the game, related functions, environment, platform (well not so much for an Xbox user) and even then sometimes the guy who knows the game like the back of his hand could be stumped. Then they have to test all angles to make sure it fixed the issue in all circumstances and that it didn't break anything else.
It depends on the software team you have. If you have faith in them, it's usually best to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are working as hard and carefully as they can to fix the problems in a reasonable time frame. But not everything goes to plan.
But in the bug list they could've released information saying they're aware of it or something?
That's company policy. I've worked with companies where they had an OPEN ISSUES list in the releases, and that can cause trouble when things don't get resolved.
It is annoying, but I am glad to know that 4J Studios are aware and working on it. Thanks for being awesome 4J and checking the forums and caring about your fan base... this seems to be getting more rare a thing these days!
Sure this is an annoying bug, but you could take the time out of your very busy day to dig around back up and dig that last block to get a good shot. IMO not a very serious problem. Im not saying i dont want it to be fixed, im just saying its not something to get all worked up about.
I don't see the point in complaining that the game is too hard the way that it is. Maybe you should lower your difficulty hmm? Minecraft is about problem solving. Who wants a problem solving game that has no problems to solve? Surely if you would have spent less time complaining and more time trying to find a workaround this issue would no longer bother you as much. I personally have no problem exploring caves on hard as long as I have a bow, maybe you should get one of those.

Also, you can attack zombies without them hitting you if you are two blocks lower than them and one block to the side. Just make sure they can't get in the hole you're in or you'll be screwed.

I never said the game was too hard, and the way the game is isn't exactly the way the game is supposed to be. Yes, I suppose minecraft can be about problem solving, although it certainly is not it's purpose. The purpose is to build/survive/have fun, not to solve problems, especially ones that aren't meant for the player to experience. I personally don't care how you play your game or how well you do so, though carrying a bow is common sense, and i've been playing long enough to know how to attack zombies, thanks.
Stop camping in corners and go fight the mobs face to face
Hiding around a corner is basic strategy against a skeleton when side-stepping isn't an option down in a cave. If you can't side-step a skeleton because there isn't enough room and you can't get a jump on it from being around a corner because of a bug you're basically guaranteed to take some damage before that skeleton is killed, which is stupid. I shouldn't pay for a developer's mistake.

Retired StaffThat''s correct, the developers intended to patch duping and in fact did patch the old method, but now we have to wait for a patch to the new method.

Retired StaffThey graced this very thread with a statement that they're working on it

Honestly, comments like this really challenge me to maintain my "don't be a ****" stance on forum replying.

Implying I stated somewhere that I believe fixing bugs is easy, yes? It might just be me, but I can't find that statement from me anywhere... weird..
