You're half right.
It is a game of risks and chances. Working hard to gather the materials, risking a creeper explosion or an arrow to the knee, but still being able to overcome all that and build a beautiful looking town, which is a goal for a project that he's planned in his "mind's eye" he planned out how it's going to look. Sure, the buildings probably will have more than aesthetic purposes probably. But it's still something they planned out and built. It just taks on challenges to the build which for some is funner.
ah yes. I once was an adventurer like, then I took an arrow to the knee. Now I no longer venture, but create mindless works of art for the world to marvel. Some say I'm processed by daedra.
That's because your game is of risks and chances. Your reward is surviving. It isn't your goal to project what's in your mind's eye.
I can't believe how deep you have planted yourself in this. It's a GAME! A virtual experience. That is ALL it is, nothing more. Your extreme care for this subject is nothing short of pathetic. I'd laugh at you if I saw you arguing over this in a real life conversation.

Sorry I have passion for the games that I play. I truly believe the survival aspect of the game is over rated in it's creditability. There is way more to minecraft than survival.

This topic is basically you stating that Suvival < Creativity. But I just don't know why you say "Survival is Overrated"? Minecraft is based upon surviving. On the front page on the Minecraft website it says "Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. At night monsters come out, make sure to build a shelter before that happens". So it clearly says you can "create" but you must remember the fact that survival is not an option. You need shelter for your survival.

That's right. It's almost as if you're saying that the survival part gets in the way of the creative part. Maybe that's why they made a creative mode? Who knows? It seems that most people don't know why.
Discuss or go away. Add to the discussion or say nothing because that's what you're really saying.... nothing.
Actually he's saying "who cares which is better."
It's the game. Creative is good because it gives you the tools and freedom to dream it and build it. Survival is good because it gives players the ability to survive, thrive, and create the way they want to.
They're both good and fun to play. You cannot truly argue why "Survival is better than creative" or "creative is better than survival" because those two statements are your personal opinion. They are in no way fact, and we can argue about it until the cows come home but the FACT still remains:
Wether you prefer Survival or Creative, you're still playing Minecraft! Which is a great game and we can all agree we enjoy it.

You can't run into forums saying "I hate this thread. This is stupid. Balls." and not expect to be labeled a troll. Its stupid. If you think a thread has no purpose, why state so? Two wrongs don't make a right.
Now, survival vs. creative. There are machinics to this debate. I believe survival's mechanics are overrated and over stated as accomplishments. If you define these mechanics for what they are, then yes, it goes beyond opinion. It then leaves the subjective plane and falls into objective hands.

You can talk about Survivals mechanics all you want. You're still talking about your personal opinion of the mechanics. So you believe the mechanics are over rated and such, others do not. So you believe the accomplishments are over stated, others do not. What if I told you the mechanics of creative are over rated, that you're accomplishments are over stated, and that that Creeper Temple you built isn't a good build in the slightest because [insert random comment of the builds looks here]. It's all still my opinion, that does not make it a fact.
Like I said before, we can debate all day about wether or not Survival is over rated, at the end of it we're still enjoying Minecraft, survival or creative, and it's still up for our personal opinion to which mode of Minecraft we prefer.
Also, I'd like to point out he didn't say "I hate this thread. This is stupid. Balls." he said
And the beat goes on ...let the topic die ! creative or survival who cares enjoy the game play it your way.
which is pretty much what my last paragraph was stating. And my "/thread"
Also, I'd like to make a point that I do enjoy creative style games. And I was just using the above comments as examples

This is why we have these green monsters that blow up your creativity! Creepers I believe they are called. You build something here on your Xbox 360 edition world and once your done you here that sizzle and boom all of your creative genius is gone. They were put in the game so that you must survive. If you just choose to create and not survive, A Creeper will come and then you will know you must survive in Minecraft

I'm glad you enjoy having creepers destroy the art work you spent hours making. I don't enjoy that. It's a painful sight.

Mechanics are the inner workings of a game that are built on variables. These provide facts as to how the game is played. When defined... they are simplistic in nature. No grand feats to describe.
You can agree that the mechanics are defined as simplistic and where the opinion comes into play is that you "like them". The fact that they are liked greatly and annouced and applauded as an achievement when so many people agree that the actual achievements in the game are way too easy, defines the opinion as overrated.

Again, their opinion that the achievments are way too easy is their opinion. You want my opinion on the achievments? They are exactly as hard as they should be. Im not going to debate why I think that but that is also my opinion. There's nothing wrong with exclaiming you're opinion to the heavens! Hell, I make a point of doing that on a regular basis, but continuing to argue your opinion as if it's a fact gets on my nerves.

You see, this is where I think you halfheartedly agree with me. When something is overrated, it's usually based on opinion.... despite the facts that are given and stretches the truth beyond reality.
It's an opinion that survival adds value to the game and credit to things that are made during survival. That opinion is overrated. Survival in the game itself is overrated... simply based on mechanics.
Hey there Pepsolman, I must say I do hear you on this topic and lets be honest and say that perhpas surivival mode is overated. And trust me lets start off that I do agree and disagree with you at the same time.
we can start off by saying its your opinion and on that you made me realize that surivival mode is in fact overated however (and this is the part where you may hate me lol ) I do believe that its unfair to call it what it is now only because the true survival mode has yet to be released. 1.8 will do just that you will have to eat to surive, sleep during the night, create shelter, farm up animals to create either armor or bake cakes and cookies etc... 1.8 is where survival mode will truly shine.
As of right now we are in 1.6.6 which really doesnt allow us to do awhole lot. I do know even the p.c version when the game was in alpha beta you couldnt do a damn thing lol I do believe in all honesty that Mojang and 4jstudios should have just released the 1.8 version of minecraft to xbla they say so we dont encounter bugs and glitches well to be honest thats what updates are for sorry.
I dont care about what some of these people say your merely expressing how you feel and to be honest I'm sure 47studios/mojang hell even notch or anyone on the team looks into these things. see what people are talking about on the forums how they can improve the game etc.
Xbla version of minecraft.. to be honest was probably a mistake to buy, due to its limitations and basically the type of versions that are going to be released, all though I love just sitting there with the controller with the air conditoner on and my ice cold glass of bud light platinum and enjoy playing.
Pepsolman I do hear your point and in fact it is vaild everyone has the right to express what ever they want of course if its in the guidelines of the forums rules and regulations of course.
Surivial is ment to be fun and imaginitive. I do however have to agree with some people saying just dont dig down a 3 layer block try and gather resources ham meat, bread, armor, create shelter that looks really cool with a lava moat even and go kill those baddie
Also not to mention that Mojang/4jstudios possibly should have added created mode to the 1.6.6 version of minecraft I'm sure it was possible but they were and are trying to follow the p.c's update progress I cant blame them. I personally play on peaceful mode because I dont want my hard work building to be blown up by a creeper when I busted my a** on it quite frankly... I would've prefered a creative mode for the main reason I could destory blocks with one hit no matter what and fly and place thousands of blocks at will..
All in all I hope you agree with my reply but I cant stress the fact that we are on a early version and soon surivival mode will be a pretty cool fun little thing.
