Think of a hardcore dubstep fan (those that hate Skrillex, as he isn't REAL dubstep)
Think of hardcore fans in general. Those that live, breathe and think of a certain thing.
A hardcore survivalist will only play survival. They will own survival, they love survival. They ARE survival...
Think of the marble. Spongebob must BBBEEE the marble!
You're point being, they may never embrace creative mode.
...wait,so you are basicly saying that just because we can't fly and because we can't have infinite amount of blocks at our disposal that means we are non-creative? O_o?
Altrough, your definition of survival... "Dig a hole 3 blocks deep and cover it"...
Really,if somebody buys the game,he will play it,not just cover himself in the ground and say "I'm done.".
People tend to PLAY THE GAME FULLY,you know.
Also... why did you even made this thread? If you want to play creative mode, then for god's sake, play it,instead of starting World Flame War III...
i dont understand why there are post and more post all the time about this... minecraft is just like any other game ..take call of duty i hate campers but some people love to play that way its not for me to say if you should play how i want to play that be cuz it is all about 'you' and thats why you have your own world in minecraft to do what 'you' want so who cares about who dose what?
Then what is Peaceful mode for? Not much thriving to that.
Well, actually, there is a pretty big difference between day one and day one hundred on that too. The peaceful player thrives when he makes a good base, builds things he thinks are cool, etc. You seem to think that all survival is is digging a hole and crying, and I have never dug a hole and cried, so I must not being playing it right. You also think that thriving is beating a threat, which could be one part of thriving, but there is another part to thriving, such as having a really nice base, and making creations that look good.
You ignored most of my post, especially where I asked you what mode you play if you just dig holes in survival and don't dup.
I don't understand the huge misconception in the OP. He says people hate Creative Mode????
Nobody hates Creative Mode, we don't even have Creative Mode. People hate the duplication glitch. There is a difference and if he was trying to imply that duping is Creative Mode, then no, just no.
I've never seen anyone bash another for playing creative mode, and 95% of the people i talk to that dislike duping don't seem to have a problem with it as long as it's not on their server.
I just don't understand where OPs apparent anger is stemming from. Some people like to create large structures without spending a lot of time gathering the resources and that's fine. They get a sense of achievement from finishing an epic build.
Some people like the challenge of procuring each individual iron ingot and diamond, and fighting their way through explosive beasties, knowing their hard-gotten goods could be lost to a ill-placed lava. They get a sense of achievement for surviving one more night while their projects slowly spring up around them.
Are either of these groups wrong? Of course not, that's why the game was designed to cater to both audiences. I've never seen this alleged bickering between hardcore survivalists and creatives, but if it truly exists surely they are in the wrong for being close-minded.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Without the skin... Beneath the storm... Under these tears...The walls came down
To me, Survival mode is more about having to acquire the tools I need to build things. I feel that if I just had an infinite supply of everything, and I could just place any block with the press of a button, my buildings would be pointless. Also, everything I build would only have aesthetic value. I like building things with purposes, such as organizational warehouses, farms, harvesters, grinders, mini-games etc. And every one in a while, I will build a building for the aesthetics only, and having to gather the tools necessary to build it is what makes it rewarding.
I mean, you built a castle in Creative mode... so what? You just pressed LT a few times, and voila! A castle.
It's true that without the hunger bar you can turn on peaceful mode and stand in one place and survive.
But that's not the point. Please READ THE WHOLE POST before replying.
Survival is currently the only gamemode on the xbox edition, and seeing this is in the xbox section you must be reffering to that.
So you are saying that you should dig a hole, stay there and do nothing else!?
Of course, you can do that, but people do not play just to dig a hole.
People play,to advance. To make structures,to explore... Not just to dig a hole.
If you spent 20$ or whatever the cost of the xbox version is for digging a hole,then...
In other words, survival isn't just digging a hole. It's much more than that...
No, I'm debating the many of survival since everyone claims that you must do a list of things to survive when we all know that's technically not true at this point.

It's not about just placing any block down and staring at it. It's about design and structure. Being creative and turning a structure into art is the biggest thrill for a creative. As far as your definition of survival goes, you don't have to gather everything to "survive". Survivalists go bare bones.

Nobody hates Creative Mode, we don't even have Creative Mode. People hate the duplication glitch. There is a difference and if he was trying to imply that duping is Creative Mode, then no, just no.
No I didn't. I've said many times no duping. I've read a number of people bashing creative mode as they say it cheapens the game. They were survivalists.
My survival world is my creative world but I don't dupe anything. I have a world where I'm digging a 31x31 circle from surface to bedrock. It doesn't require that I use duping, or creative mode, as you call it.
You don't need duping, aka creative mode, to be creative. some people can do both survival and creative at the same time.
its true i love both game types and i play both duping is good for people who like having creative i dont mind it and its not like i use it all the time i have my seeds where i dupe for huge castles and awsom creations because there is no creative yet but to be honest i like playing survival more than having all the items al my dupespozle lol but yes its verry hard to play survival without a food bar or stackable food seeing as there is only like 3 or 4 foods in the game so far IMO thay need to make survival b4 thay make creative there are alredy like 10 ways to dupe and no way to play survival yet so i would like too see food bars and more food in the next update rather than creative since you can dupe items alredy to basicly have a creative chest but hay that just MOI love you minecraft both xbl and pc
No I didn't. I've said many times no duping. I've read a number of people bashing creative mode as they say it cheapens the game. They were survivalists.
Why would you care? People trash talk the version on the Pc side of the forums too. It's quited down after so long but they still do it from time to time. Why not just play the game the way that you want and ignore everyone else?
One only needs to dig 3 blocks in the ground and place the 3rd block on top and sit there to survive. Sounds boring if survival is what you're really talking about. Not much too it. Very simplistic. No need to over complicate it.
Creative goes beyond symplisity. When you are asked to push beyong the limits and create the most epic thing that your mind can imagine, that is true artistry. Building to the sky... digging to bedrock; that is the true limit to creative mode. Why is there such a need to limit creativity?
Creatives see the game as an empty canvas. Not a competition.
There is no wrong way to play Minecraft.
THE DEVELOPERS DISAGREE.
Edit: I say there is no wrong way to play minecraft because the pro-survivalist say that we must play the game competitivly because that's what the developers chose the game to be even though it is a creative game.
Survivalist, get off the creatives' case!
EDIT: I DO NOT SUPPORT THE DUP GLITCH FOR THE PURITY OF CREATIVITY!
EDIT 1. Hardcore survivalist claim the game is meant to be played this way due to the fact the developers made it this way. 2. These same people know that there is a creative mode on the PC and know it will come to 360 eventually.
3. Now as the game stands, it can be played as survival or creative... but with limits. 4. Many survivalist have bashed the creative mode and those that want to play creatively, including those that go beyond the scope of the game. 5. Creativity can be achieved without the dup glitch.
6. Creative mode is pretty much a dup glitch.
7. Cheating in survival or creative is not supported by me. 8. We can have our own fun in our own world in what ever manner we see fit even if the developers as limits to the game. We as gamers chose our own path.
Everything I bolded/color coded conflicts with your "There is no wrong way to play" or just statements that seem just to be thrown out there to make your argument look better.
If there is no wrong to play, why are you basically bashing the "Survivalists" way to play. Your first statement basically puts you and "Creativeists" on the condescending side/tone of wording.
Your next statement, where has the developers ever told you how to play the game? If you're going to throw these statements out, provide links to said posts.
The purple text contradicts itself all in one sentence. Who ever said survival couldn't be creative? Who ever said, besides yourself, that all survival was only standing in a hole?
Right now I'm not sure where you're going with the following blueish-green bolded statements. You're recognizing that there are two game modes, and that there is a difference in Survival and Creative mode. Then you claim the dupe glitch is basically the creative mode. This statement is entirely wrong. Creative Mode is not "pretty much the dup glitch". It's a free form mode where you can build anything, test anything, and pretty much let your imagination go wild. To simply label it a dupe glitch is rather demeaning to the whole aspect of it.
The red section here confuses me. I've yet to see hardly anyone on these forums "bash" those who play creative. Unless you're confusing people who exploit a glitch and confuse that as creative...then I see it all the time. Again, you recognize the different modes, then you claim that we are only supposed to play one way...in a way that's correct since the only mode we have currently is labeled as survival. If you wish to build and be creative, do it, that's part of the survival aspect.
Survival/Creative modes are pretty much the same with each game mode having something the other doesn't have.
Survival focuses on gathering materials/fighting monsters/build/exploration. Creative focuses on building and exploration. It removes the need to gather materials and fight monsters as it is not needed.
Both have there draws and both are treated entirely different. You can however play Survival in Creative (with god like powers), but not the other way around due to lack of unlimited resources at your finger tips. To achieve that, you would need a mod like Too Many Items. Even so...doing so makes it pointless for the "mode".
TL;DR
Neither Survival or Creative is less "creative" then the other.

I'll answer you without drawing this is out too long like you did.
Survival is basic... in the real world... and in minecraft. To survive basically is to "not die" simply needing to stay put, dig a hole, or turn on peaceful mode. (There is no peaceful mode in real life though.)
People compare the dup glitch to creative mode and full out bash the glitch because it is a glitch and that is ruins survival and that the game is meant to be competitive and for survivalists means. Yet, creative mode basically does what the glitch does. The ability to build limitlessly. Why bash either as the game was intended to be limitless in some form. Again, I do not support the glitch.... but what it does... being able to build limitlessly, I support.
There is not wrong way to play minecraft... even if there is a glitch. However, the developers have put limits on the 360 version as of right now. There is no creative mode. I merely state that survival is overrated due to it's definition. To survive. Not die. Period. Mission accomplished.
Many Survivalists that we should play the game as it is now and not whine about not having a creative mode... acting as if everything is fine. But it isn't.... for everybody. Many do not want to be limited in their imagination. They want to branch out as far as possible.
Survivalists have their list of querks for the game as well, but that is another discussion for another day.

I still don't get where you only consider survival as only digging a whole and not dying. If that's your opinion then alright, but please don't make it sound so condescending. The developers did not limit us, at the time of the development of the Xbox version creative mode did not exist at all. The reason we do not have an almost direct copy of the PC current version is due to size (as in file size). Arcades titles have a lot less freedom as a full named boxed title. The PC (original) version has a lot more free reign. No one is acting like it is "fine", and if you really want to blame who is limiting us, it would be Microsoft, not the developers/4j.
You're point being, they may never embrace creative mode.
Herobrine exists because we let him exist.
I'll go even futher.
Want to survive?
Turn on peaceful mode and stand there.
The end.

Forum AdminOk, just what practical purpose are you trying to accomplish here?
