Let's stop feeding the trolls. Nobody cares if you dupe. The leaderboards are already broken. Duping is a bug and will be removed in future updates. Arguing semantics and acting as if you don't understand the point being made when it's obvious you do is obnoxious. Let this discussion die.
Quite honestly, I personally thinking porting Minecraft (or recoding it) to the console form was a bad idea.
I believe people should play how they want to play, but I don't think they should exploit glitches. Personally I don't care if you are going to dupe, what ever. I just wont dupe in my world...I'll wait for creative where I go to figure out my designs for the creations I build in creative. Am I going to tell you how you should feel about what you're doing? No, I have no right to tell you how you feel because you decide that for yourself.
I'll play how i want to play, rather it be the "right way" or the "wrong way". In minecraft, people can and will choose to nitpick about everything. As the saying goes. You can't make all of the people happy all of the time.
I refer to my signature. The sentence right after the one you quoted was some real talk. Besides, you misinterpreted the meaning of that. I believe SupaSaru intended that to be read as this: "There's a small tip: if glitches can be considered mechanics.... then why is it that people only want to keep the ones that benefit themselves?"
It would be like asking - "If people are happy to keep money they find on the ground, then why don't they purposely drop money also?"
I think you're looking at it the other way...the dropping money is a very bad example as in moral nature, you shouldn't keep the money you should turn it in and hope that the other person is able to get there money back.
The first comment I agree with. If people want the glitches that benefit them, then they should want the bad ones also, because in the end they are all glitches, unintentional to the original design.
If your opinion differs, that's fine. I'm not going to judge you. It is your right to have that opinion. No one is the lesser man/woman.
The first comment I agree with. If people want the glitches that benefit them, then they should want the bad ones also, because in the end they are all glitches, unintentional to the original design.
No, they shouldn't, because beneficial bugs are beneficial, and disruptive bugs are disruptive.
The flawed thinking here is that games should only be played the way they were designed to be played. If that's the case, Minecraft players should stop playing spleef, PC users should stop using MCedit custom adventure maps, and texture packs, because those weren't put there by the developer either. Sure they're not bugs, but they're certainly not developer added features!
Beneficial glitches are beneficial because people get enjoyment out of them. Beneficial glitches is what makes a Super Metroid speedrun video fun to watch, as people abuse the morph ball and hit detection on vaious glitches that allow them to move about the game in unintended ways.
Beneficial glitches is what made Red vs Blue look so nice in the Halo: CE days, the developers didn't intend for a player model looking straight down to appear to other players as a Spartan model standing in an 'at ease' pose.
You're saying people should want bad experiences in their game ... that doesn't make a lick of sense. Maybe the developers didn't intend the feature to be there. And sure, it's going to be patched again before creative comes out. But until then, why shouldn't people enjoy the benefits of duping? Some people want to make huge grandiose projects beyond what the finite amount of materials would allow them to, and duping is a means to fill that desire without having to sit around waiting for creative mode to come. And what's the big deal, as long as it's not disrupting other peoples' experiences?
Except for the leaderboards. It's a shame about that.

Now you're going way off subject here. I'm referring to glitches. Unintentional code. Adventure maps is no where near related to a glitch of any sort. The way of thinking is not flawed. Then people shouldn't use mods. People shouldn't use texture packs. People shouldn't change there skins. Those weren't put there by design. That's not how the game came.
See where this ends up?
Also, please don't put words in my mouth. I never said anyone shouldn't enjoy the game. Nor am I telling them how to play there game. I never said/implied/or intended what I bolded.
No, because the bug benefits YOU(not you personally, but you are a major representative of those with this argument). All other players who focus on the Leaderboards, whether you like it or not, are extremely affected by this glitch.
Also, for all the people out there who say,"But who cares about the Leaderboards? They shouldn't even have that feature in the game! Oh yeah, by the way, why do you care how I play MY game?" That is the general speech of you guys. Think about that.
OT:You are discussing 1% of my post, despite the fact that you still quoted it all. Is it that you are in denial of your failure? You don't want to admit that, though. You are just going to spend a few minutes thinking of an absurd comeback for one sentence of each of my responses. This is intolerable of a situation; I shall be leaving in the path McAngusYoung has gone.

50% of your post more accurately. The other 50% was you pushing your crazy opinion that I should always quote you and respond to you in full, which I didn't care enough to quote and respond to because it was pretty irrelevant to the discussion. What SupaSaru said after the sentence I said was reiterated by Kiori, and I did respond to him.

You kinda did though. you stated that people should want bad bugs in their game if they also want the good ones. Bad bugs disrupt the game and make a bad experience, ie, people wanting bad glitches = people want their experiences tarnished.
Like I said, I reognize that custome mods, texture packs, and player-invented minigames aren't bugs, but your argument for that was that people shouldn't use the glitch because it's not what the developers intended to happen. But Developers never intended minigames, custom mods, and texture packs to happen either. I don't mean adventure maps as in adventure mode, I mean more along the lines of Vechs maps, where you're in a predefined world that someone built and made a specific challenge for you to go through. Sorry if I was ambiguous there.
I don't see why you had to post this.
You have the "I don't care attitude" in your post, but by making this post your point has become moot.
If you don't care what we think about how you play, then don't post it for us to be able to give an opinion on.
There's nothing wrong with creative modes - just it's no where near as impressive as a survival mode of the same thing.
That doesn't mean your creative mode sucks.
Because people like you post how we need to be playing the game. We are tired of hearing that mess. So now we are speaking out. Get use to it.

You're taking what I'm saying way to literal. I don't want people to have glitches "good" or "bad" in there games. (which glitches are bad regardless if you benefit from them or not). That is what I'm saying and have been saying this whole time. I'm not going to sit here and argue about this. I'm not sitting here telling people how to play there game. If they exploit the glitch what ever. It's not any of my business what they do in the game.
I'm not saying people shouldn't enjoy the game using these glitches, but if that's the only reason they enjoy the game...then maybe the game wasn't for them (right now) in the first place. (don't take this as me saying they shouldn't play at all).

Don't worry, I don't see it like that.
I can agree with you that preferably there aren't any bugs in a game.
My only points of contention are that as long as a beneficial one is present, why not use it, and if someone uses a beneficial gliitch without ruining someone else's experience, why be mad? But you don't seem to disagree with me on those, so I believe you and I see eye to eye.

Not everyone who uses the duping glitch ruins someone elses expereince but I bet there are some that do.
Duping can be used to affect the leaderboard in certain ways no matter how much dupers deny it.

Absolutely, I think the problems with the leaderboard might be the only negative effect, and it's a shame that people would go to such lengths for a number on the board.
And I'm sure some people probably go and dupe copious amounts of TNT for griefing, but that's a creative mode problem too, that's nothing new.
I'm pretty sure he means he can't wait for Creative Mode so people stop fighting back and forth on a subject that's been beaten to death multiple times.
Once Creative Mode is added. all the "creative" people can play on their side of the fence while all the "survival" people can play on theirs.

Gaming, history, science and technology enthusiast. Don't mind my cynicism.
not true. people can still un-patch and dupe like crazy on survival worlds, id do it just knowing that people will rage over it, ill make sure to post a topic mentioining for a fact i didnt use the dupe (when i did) on some crazy awesome huge builds. ill just pretend to be legit.
and then someone will figure it out.
and we will argue.
and it will be GLORIOUS!
I know this is all satirical, (it should be), but you are one pathetic peice of **** lol.
Stop using the leaderboards in arguments, whoever you are, you would never have been #1 in the first place. And if it wasn't the dup glitch that messed up the leaderboards, it would have been something else. JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER GAME EVER. So no more leaderboard talk ok? Thanks bye.

In my opinion, this is the bottom line.
With games where people are going to be ranked, or have some device comparing their performance in the game, there are two inevitable consequences.
