Sorry guys, I'm with Calypso and Zoe on this one. Ya'll are allowed to not be impressed by what people do with duping, but dupers have a right to enjoy what they do, even if it is a lucky chance that such a glitch exists. There really isn't a single functional difference between duping on peaceful mode and playing creativity mode, besides the lack of flying.
So go ahead and feel like Calypso is cheating himself, but it seems to me that his problem is that people are essentially telling him he's not having REAL fun when, in fact, he is having plenty of fun.
Very true, it's like the whole "accomplishment" thing, I love how the haters say people who dup are robbing themselves of the feeling of accomplishment because they dup their supplies... I think I'll be the judge of how accomplished I feel, thanks!

That sounds absolutely hideous by the way. Things like Diamond, Iron, and Gold blocks are only good in moderation. When you overdose on it, it looks really tacky and ostentatious in my opinion.
those were hypothetical things, how about a 2 story brick house? my new world has a very limited supply of clay. and it is unfortunate that the leaderboards are subjet to the dup glitch( i only used it twice), but seriously minecraft leaderboards are a dumb idea(there goes my opinion again).
Why do you care about my playing experience=why do you care how I play
I don't care about how you play, I was simply correcting you on the blatant lie you made, that dup'ing effects your playing experience, because it doesn't.
Minecraft isn't a competitive shooter or racing title, its a sandbox game which is actually designed to be single player... What he does in his own world has no effect on you in any form what-so-ever...

Blocks of blue wool & light blue wool is actually harder to get than Gold blocks...
I use tons of different coloured wools for floorings, ceilings etc, I very rarely use diamond or gold blocks in construction, the only time was using diamond blocks on my twin towers, which I did for the metallic blue & glass contrast, not just because it was diamond...

i honestly have hardly ever used the glitch but all the hate speech completey unfounded and wrong.i understand that the leaderboards can be cheated that way, but you cant even look at the stupid board wihout a crash anyway.
I believe the point of Minecraft is to express your creativity, in any shape way or form. I don't believe 4J looks down on people that dupe... But I do believe they just want kids to have fun in any way they can. That's the whole point of the game. Just like Plug-in's for the PC version. They are not provided by the creators of Minecraft, so OBVIOUSLY they should be removed because that's not what the game itself had to offer... In conclusion, stop whining about people that whine to you. And people stop whining about duping, it's a game that people can build what they want!
The idea of a leaderboard in minecraft kind of puzzles me... Why the hell care who has walked the furthest or knocked down the most trees lol... leaderboard in sandbox games just seem silly.

I agree that 4J probably don't care much about duping... They tried to fix the glitch for the stability aspect of the game, to prevent errors etc I am assuming, but if people are willing to take the risk of a corrupted save when they dup then thats their choice...
I think there is a reasonable percentage of people who only kept playing the game because of the dup glitch (myself included), and as long as people are playing and enjoying the game (whichever way that is) then I'm sure 4J would be happy...
If the dup'ing glitch was affecting other people (such as cheating in competitive games like CoD or battlefield etc) then I'm sure they would care, but in this case, it's a glitch that actually brings enjoyment to lot of players that use it without affecting the players that don't use it.

So just because you think it's pointless for there to be a leaderboard means that it's ok to ruin the leaderbaord with duping? You enjoy the game through playing with duplication. Others enjoy the game through playing to earn a spot high on the leaderboard. Sounds like you are saying the same thing the people who are hating on dupers do.
You are contradicting yourself saying that someones way of playing the game doesn't really matter. It's ok to ruin the leaderboard because your way of playing is fun, but to hell with those that enjoy the leaderboards because you think it's pointless. Pretty much what anti-duping people are saying.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read that duping doesn't affect leaderboards now anyway?
And for the most part, it wouldn't have affected them, eg - dup'ing doesnt affect how far you walk etc. And aren't the leaderboards pulling their stats from blocks mined? Dup'ing isn't mining... I'm sure the leaderboard would count a block mined as the moment you break the block and pick it up, this process is skipped while dup'ing...
What I don't get is all these people getting their panties in a knot arguing for the dupe glitch. There's one very simple thing here: part of the game does not work as intended - this is the definition of a bug. The fact that it can be used to duplicate items is a happy side effect for those interested in doing it, but it's still a bug, and it will be fixed. There's nothing you or anyone can say that will stop that.
Most of us don't actually care what you do with your game. At all. And if what you did on your own game had zero impact on anyone else, there would be no issue - although the bug would still be fixed, it's a bug after all. You do want bugs to be fixed right? Particularly bugs that will probably cause all sorts of side-effects that you probably aren't even aware or or considering?
The issue with this particular bug is the leaderboards - they are ruined. This is what effects other people, and this is where it becomes an issue.
Once this particular variant of the bug is fixed, then you'll still be able to go and use the dupe glitch, you'll just have to remove the patches and play offline. Tough. Hopefully this way you won't effect the leaderboards in any meaningful way, and everybody's happy, for the most part. Well, except that you can't play with the clay fix, but, well, tough. You want to exploit a bug, that's the price you have to pay. But for God's sake, stop your damn whining! Nobody cares! Or if they do, they shouldn't! Can we stop giving this issue air?

I only dup offline anyway.
I haven't seen anywhere that is says duping doesn't affect the leaderboard.
If it doesn't affect the leaderboards then please fill me in on how all of the top people under Mining Blocks have 65,535 of Dirt, Cobblestone, Sand, Stone, Gravel, Clay and Obsidian. I'm supposed to believe that people have gotten 65,535 Clay and Obsidian legit? lol I don't think so.
Same thing with Farming. Everyone has 65,535 of everything. Sure seems like a big impact on the leaderboards to me.

How do you know that is caused by dup'ing?
From what I'm aware the leaderboards have been broken since day one... The only time I checked them was before I started duping and it said that I had mined 1 sand block and nothing else, despite me having logged on and off xbox live several times and having had built 1/4 of my city...

How do we know it isn't caused by duping? Since we have no confirmation one way or the other, the most obvious suspect for ruining the leaderboards is the dupe glitches.
This arguement is extremely pointless. You were fine until I pointed out that you contradicted yourself and then you got extremely defensive.

lol, duping items doesnt add them to your leaderboard stats.... Ive duped a ton of obsidian but i only have like 10 that count towards my leaderboards, which were obtained legitimately to make a nether portal.
Lets be honest, people dupe because they are simply far too lazy to get the materials by normal means.
If you want to cheat, thats ok. just don't post images about it, because anything built via duping is null and void and simply not impressive in any way whatsoever.
Providing you keep it to yourself, thats fine.
See, that's another problem, is people like you post that like it's a bona fide fact. I'm impressed with the end results of buildings, personally, not with how people get the resources. YOU'RE not impressed by buildings made with resources that weren't ined properly, but plenty of people don't care and only judge the result of how the materials are put together.
Otherwise nobody building anything in creative mode would ever get any praise. Ever.

There's a difference between lazy and impractical... It's not lazy to spend 21+ hours designing and building a structure, detailing every single aspect of it... It IS impracticle (actually IMPOSSIBLE) to mine the required 3000+ blocks of Lapis Lazuli to make the wool for the floor or the 3000+ diamonds to make the 400 blocks needed for the project...

* Not impressive to YOU, you are not the judge of what is impressive to me or anybody else, and thankfully I have the option of never having to play with you, so your opinion's value to me is worthless
